Our account scheme has many advantages over bitcoin's UTXO scheme (like making key rotation possible) but it has the unfortunate downside that accts have a reserve and normal accts can't ever be deleted. (At least, not without ways to severely shoot yourself in the foot.) 2/2
Unfortunately, no. The 20 XRP remains as a reserve to prevent spam attacks on the ledger as the ledger must remember that your past transactions are no longer valid. We've proposed a "light account" feature that can recover its reserve, but it's still being discussed. 1/2
So I guess I’m not the only one who doesn’t like static reserve with #XRP they are working on it. Great news! And for the XRP community chill, it does suck and that’s okay it can be improved.
