If we socially lose the ability to make rational changes, Bitcoin has far worse problems. Socially attacking, urging rejection of security & robustness fixes from 200 most skilled people on the planet is itself an attack on Bitcoin. There are security fixes in v30.
11/n Special thanks to @adam3us , @darosior , and @sethforprivacy for making the most articulate points that heavily influenced my understanding of the debate.
9/n Those recommending a switch to Bitcoin Knots are deeply misguided, because Knots doesn't have the same sort of rigorous code review that Bitcoin Core goes through. Knots poses a security risk.

No, most governments do not impute culpability simoly for spurious data embedded within files of different types that themselves have a separate, primary legal purpose. And it's not just about knowledge, but the ability to view such embedded data. In this case, viewing the bad…
To the contrary: the legal history here is clear that when you put in place mechanisms that provide the capabilities needed for you to comply with government demands, it removes the 'undue burden' and free speech defensive arguments that government can't force you to create whole…
May seem unintuitive, but legally, creating a native filter system, process for distribution, and legal notices of activity *increase, not decrease* the likelihood of gov interdiction and courts compelling repurposed use for gov demands - filters are a misadventurous gift to gov.
I don't understand how people form these woefully inaccurate pseudo-legal views and project them so boldly as fact. The lack of undue burden has been used more than 60 times by gov to successfully argue already having in place the very mechanisms gov would need to achieve its…
OP_Return2 - Overview With intense debates over the default OP_Return relay limit continuing, some have suggested OP_Return2 as a potential solution. We have summarised our understanding of OP_Return2 below. OP_Return2 is a new proposed transaction output, that contains a hash…

As I mentioned, @murchandamus already did about 40 minutes describing at a high level Bitcoin v30 changes in Bitcoin Optech Podcast #372 (bitcoinops.org/en/podcast/202…) and again with @pete_rizzo_ (youtube.com/watch?v=EUHc5Q…) You can also review the v30 release notes here:…

Bitcoin Core v30 Release: What’s Changing & Why It Matters | Murch
Bitcoin Core v30: a deeper look What is in Bitcoin Core v30? One way to answer this is to review the release notes and discuss features. A few contributors have already done this already and I'll point to their summaries. But another angle is to look at all of the PRs and…

The people telling you that Bitcoin will die if someone puts CSAM inside the chain, will put CSAM just to scare you off into trusting them with control over your node software and your hashrate.
Prediction: Someone will become so radicalized against Core that they will put illegal content on chain themselves, thinking they’re actually doing something good.
The code changes from the Bitcoin Core v30 release have been merged downstream into my node monitoring Statoshi fork and are deployed to statoshi.info
This 2679 byte op_return containing a png file was just confirmed. I broadcast it using Core version 29.1 to the regular Bitcoin relay network (no out of band service needed). Core 30 makes no difference in the ability of a "spammer" to confirm transactions with large op_returns.

BREAKING: $8 TRILLION MORGAN STANLEY JUST ANNOUNCED THEY WILL REMOVE ALL RESTRICTIONS ON OWNING #BITCOIN BIG BANKS ARE MOVING FAST. IT'S COMING 🚀

I'm drafting a blog post intended for publication by my employer that delves into the nuances of why this whole direction is folly (if it gets past corporate PR/Comms review). I don't think enough people are directly rebutting the legal insanity (besides you and a couple others),…
Bitcoin was 40 years of work.

"Bitcoin is not a fucking iPhone. It's not going to just follow the same adoption curve that every other technology before it did. Bitcoin is a techno-socioeconomic phenomenon… the downside of me being wrong about an iPhone is a thousand dollars. The downside of me being wrong…
