TTYs are messy, but the reasons we love them (ability to remote, record, replay,search etc) boil down to escape sequences forming an *effects system* 💡. Now if only someone who specialises in effects systems could improve them🙏

did Excel give more people direct experience of the 4 software freedoms than all of GNU/Linux combined!? Despite being closed-source with a proprietary file format, every spreadsheet recipient (that could open it) got to see the formulas, modify, and Save as...->send.
