Got hired as a Rails developer, but probably shouldn't have been! Maybe I can figure this out before my boss realizes I don't know what I'm doing...
This allows to all of management.
I got a real Friday treat for all full-stack TypeScript lovers. 🍬 Introducing zART 🤯 - Zero-API, React, & TypeScript A monorepo showcasing how you can leverage the power of TS to never have to write an API-schema for your React [Native] app again. github.com/KATT/zart
If hitting an arbitrary deadline is more important than good engineering you deserve the code you're going to get from your team.
The big show turned out to be a no show. The bill was killed in mid-air while on the agenda with a backroom deal. Apple has hired the governor's former chief of staff, and word is that he brokered a deal to prevent this from even being heard. #America4Sale
Big showdown in Arizona today! Senate will vote on the app store bill already passed by the house. Giving app makers the right to process payments without the exorbitant 30% cut, and with protection from retaliation. Make apps? Register your interest. docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
Oh cool a bully from high school reached out
This thread is 🔥 but there are so many haters in the comments! Preach Ashley!
Not do I only believe working 40hrs is too much, I also believe kids being in school all day is absurd. That’s too much. 25 hrs should be full time work, 30 max. Kids are in school all damn day because parents are at work. No one is effective 40+ hrs a week.
I'm 10y remote now and 99% of all interactions with my heavy remote / async teams are NOT done with calls / video. It almost all in writing. Everyone right now trying to optimize for voice / video communication is optimizing into the wrong thing.
Possibly the best place to work ever.
We're hiring a Director of Operations at @Basecamp to lead our team of seven on ops, juggling our own servers and cloud setups. Come help us strive for uptime 9s while keeping calm and building a resilient ops culture ❤️ basecamp.workable.com/jobs/1025288
Never heard of this one. There's always something to learn!
I just learned about the <base> element, I didn't know about it so I thought I'd share: You can do like: <head> <base target="_blank"> </head> And use base to set properties for all links in the document. Here, every link will open in a new window: codepen.io/sdras/full/KLz…
This is really neat. Clever use of the tags. Could make a fun playground on a myspace-like site! #html #css
🤡 Cool thing I just found out is possible in HTML. No practical use, just fun.
Revamp of my url #shortener complete and released!! Check it out: dmu.io/r0rt7 Features free accounts, significantly improved easy-to-use UI, basic analytics, asynchronous processing, and feedback form to the dev! Let me know what you think! #rubyonrails #ruby #sidekiq
My url shortener (dmu.io/tu74o) killed my free @heroku hours this month so I had to upgrade! Don't visit my blog until May, lol!
Great episode about where we're headed on the web!
On this week's episode, Chris is joined by @linclark and @tschneidereit of Mozilla to talk about the ins and outs of WebAssembly. They cover the current, the cutting edge, and the long term possibilities for this foundational technology. bikeshed.fm/195
Been working on a revamp of my #rubyonrails #urlshortener #app with a new UI, new features for leaving feedback and comments, and some admin functionality. As I write specs and docs I keep finding inconsistencies and fixing them. Almost ready...
Recently I came across a scenario in my #rubyonrails #app where I had to redirect a user twice and was losing the flash message when the user finally landed. This is how I solved it: dmu.io/1p3a6 #webdevelopers #mvc
Building an opinionated #framework for #webdevelopers on how to handle #privacy and user data is a great idea @toadkicker & @dhh! Any thoughts on what a gem that does that might like like or if one already exists? #rubyonrails #Ruby #webdev #webdevelopment

I have more ideas than I have time to build. There aren't highly-skilled people that know how to execute on an idea waiting around for an idea to steal because they can't think of one themselves!
You think your business idea is unique and special? afraid to tell people because they might steal it? I dare you to try and give your idea away for a month and watch nobody build it.
