Examine #response #bias in #psychological research: Participants’ believes in a research hypothesis but not their motivation to please the experimenter or ability to adjust behaviour influences human study results!

The commonly proposed response bias mechanism was not supported We did not find that motivation (A) or ability to adjust responses (B) predicted demand effects But something else did: the extent to which participants believed the study hypothesis (C). A placebo/mindset effect!
