@refkithistory also the original NASL had the referees to wear numbers on the back of there uniforms This idea came from other sports in the USA where officials wore a number on the back of the uniforms . MLS referees do not have the numbers on the back
@refkithistory This was the referee uniform that was used in the original North American soccer league ( NASL ) from 1979 to 1983
