5/ and everything in bash needs to be quoted, otherwise your machine might explode if someone names a file with space in it. Of course, if someone uses spaces in filenames, they should be tied to that machine and let the explosion happen.
4/ But boy oh boy... once you start programming in bash... Crap... what's a for loop syntax? I dunno, let me google it. If? Same thing. Anything programming like in bash needs googling. Syntax is simply not rememberable.
3/ I love bash for how simple things are that are meant to be simple. Execute a program, just call it: program No `program()`, no special syntax, bash script is just a text file with commands one would normally type in shell. Easy.
2/ "new project" sounds so grandiose. I just need small bash script to help me manage nginx server. Ideal for bash. But bash is anything but ideal. Oh man, how I love and hate bash at the same time...
1/ It was one of those Fridays when I just didn't want to work. So naturally, started hacking on a new project. Sane person would choose a good programming language. But that's too boring. bash, I choose you!
