This is a really good piece! Generalised 'tech' means nothing. What tech? Which apps? What knowledge? What concepts? What skills? @JtuckerJames

Sooner or later, tech's ability to transform both formative and summative assessment is going to force radical change in the organisation of teaching and learning #edtech

There are already plenty of resources out there. Teachers need the digital literacy & pedagogical skills to find and select them; the money to buy them; the time to adapt them to their pupils' needs and the technology-skills to do this quickly and effectively #edtech

“Textbook companies don’t know your kids, YOU know your kids” @alicekeeler quite. To need to stop viewing textbook teacher manuals as the end all be all!

Absolutely! Use tech to enrich: capture, communicate, celebrate...

This - on 'screentime' - from @josepicardo is measured and wise. Important conversations about the *quality* of screen time are being squeezed out by a moral panic about *quantity*. Worth remembering the old, sneering term, 'bookworm'. We're better than this. #edtech

Twitter full of asinine comments about how terrible technology is for children. Probably a good time to retweet this. Not all screen time is equal: Some considerations for schools and parents josepicardo.com/education/not-…

As soon as I saw this, the names of three children popped into my mind. I'm going to use this asap. #edtech

Have you discovered "Inclusive Co-authoring" using Learning Tools in Microsoft Word? Students of all abilities can have their own layer on the doc to read, write & collaborate. Built-in w/ @Office365 #mieexpert #AssistiveTech #accessibility #dyslexia #edchat #cpchat #suptchat

This is very important. I hope the debate will shift in time towards quality of tech interactions and away from blunt measures of quantity. @drmalvord #edtech

".rather than worry about the catch-all notion of ‘screen time’ it might be better to focus on whether, when and why particular digital activities help or harm individual children."

Agreed, @MrSchorsch . *Quantity* of screen-time is less important than its *quality*. #edtech #edtechchat

My take: The real divide is "digital use divide." Supporting Ps in managing tech use at home, smart integration of technology in schools, and treating Ss as creators (not consumers) is key. #edtechchat "America’s Real Digital Divide" nyti.ms/2BS6fkU

If I had 10k extra per year to spend on tech in a school? I'd spend it *ALL* on training and CPD. (Prompted by conversation with @ICTEvangelist) #edtech

Mark and others make it easy to use tech better in teaching (and learning). But for many in schools, I suggest that this *important* aspect of CPD is often neglected in favour of the *urgent*. I would put Better Use Of Tech into staff targets and appraisals. #edtech

Learning Tools is excellent. Office Lens is excellent. Put them together and important and valuable things happen for VI children #edtech

Check out the latest on @Office365 in the Classroom. Humbling to see how Learning Tools continues to grow with 7M active users, increasing test scores by 10% and empowering kids to just be included. Nothing better than that. #accessibility blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/teachers/?p=13…
