Good point Andrew @ScottAppliedSci. But if cardiovascular disease due to coronary atherosclerosis accounts for 30% of more of all deaths (I'm guessing), a 1% reduction doesn't suggest we are anywhere near finding the true cause of the conditions.

So would you take a drug with significant side effects if you were told that the probability that you would benefit from its use would be 1 in >50 users. Personally I would not. And when I've made that point in lectures to students and the general public, they usually agree.…

If cardiovascular disease accounted for all deaths and was entirely driven by LDL (or ApoB), Prof Noakes would be right. But that’s not so. So, absolute risk reductions around the 1% mark indicate a very meaningful effect. And are not (in themselves) a counter to statin…

Not true. This is causal overreach. Taking a real finding (tiny amounts of Neu5Gc from red meat/dairy can get incorporated into cells) and jumping to “therefore it causes inflammation/disease in people” based on a small drop in CRP in a handful of studies.

Many people do not realize that red meat and diary consumption causes a non-human sialic acid (Neu5GC) to be incorporated into surface of our cells which causes an inflammatory response. Replacing cows milk with soy is going to reduce inflammation. Here's more information…

This is so heartbreaking to me because I've taken care of so many patients with dementia. The low-fat craze started around the 70s, and now we have so many people with dementia. I completely believe it's highly associated with cholesterol levels. The brain needs fat!

High cholesterol levels are associated with up to 80% lower risk of dementia. Is our cholesterol reduction obsession increasing dementia rates?
