Robert Jenrick has no idea about how communities work. He stands to learn a thing or two from communities like ours in Handsworth.

“I was declared homeless…” I recently spoke to a tenant in a local exempt accommodation. With his permission I’m sharing his story. 🙏🏽 He was declared homeless and housed in a vermin infested property here in Handsworth. 😔
We receive many positive and supportive comments about our community work ❤️ But recently I’ve seen an upsurge in hateful, divisive and racist comments 🤔 People who divide us will not win. We are stronger together.
A few weeks back I reported the uncollected @biffa bin... now it's multiplied with an additional @VeoliaUK bin! ✖️ Both say they care about the environment and waste, but evidently not in Handsworth. I've logged the issue, so has the local BID - but nothing has been done... 🤔
🚶🏽♂️ I was walking back from the tram stop and I bumped into Pamela who was litter picking on Benson Road. 💪🏽 I asked her what made her do that and she spoke about pride in her local community. Who inspires you in our community?
