Everything wrong with this country summarised in one tweet > Clueless nanny state super councillors think more regulations and bans will solve everything > VPN & Tor downloads surge overnight > Kids are now pushed to the dark web Embarassing beyond words
This must be tweeted every Halloween. I don’t make the rules

Claude can't help due to "unexpected constraints", last time I asked ChatGPT to do this particular donkey work (generating a sqlalchemy.orm datamodel from a table definition) it took hunting down weird bugs with it than it would have taken me to write. AI isn't coming for my job
Remember how in the 1980's London was in constant threat from IRA terrorists, so the British Army bombed Derry to the ground, blocked all the borders to Northern Ireland and destroyed all the streets in Belfast? Well, me neither. Perhaps this is not a way to fight terrorism.
Why can Dijon, France plan, approve, and build a 12 mile tramway in 4 years, while it takes 13 years to build a 1 mile tram extension in Birmingham? Our new report, written with @createstreets, explores how Britain can make building new tramways cheaper and faster. 🧵

Thought this smelled sus when I got it
To be clear all day rumours have been spread that a far right group were coming and it was done entirely to get Muslim people out on the street to drive this content. It is misinformation being spread to create trouble.

Nigel Farage could yesterday have had the questions, he claims are unanswered, answered if he had bothered to turn up to parliament and ask them during the statement on the incidents in Southport. He didn't turn up, he grifted instead.
Spain: Open address data. England: No open address data. I think this explains it all really.
It's like they're trying to appoint a compent goverment, not just their mates...
That James Timpson appointment really is rather exciting. Genuinely a man who's used what power he has to improve the outcome of people's lives who've been through prison - given the power of the state to do it bigger. This more than anything I've heard so far gives me hope.

Two interesting appointments - two new peers Patrick Vallance is familiar to all who lived through the pandemic, James Timpson may be less familiar - Former ceo of the shoe repair and key cutting businesss and who has worked at rehabilitatng prisoners.

this from @forrestbrazeal is just wonderful. i properly laughed out loud

Conservative minister Chris Philp here really struggling to grasp the fact that Rwanda and Congo are two entirely different countries.

Good morning everyone, as we celebrate the anniversary of history’s least successful scene guard. Please take a moment to remember the night duty legionaries about to go into a ‘no sella, no buccellatum’ meeting with their centurion.
"Birmingham City Council has confirmed it will raise council tax by 21% over the next two years as part of £300m budget savings. Street lights are to be dimmed, waste collections are to become fortnightly, while burial costs will increase." Ooooof. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…
Rob is exactly right in this thread
Firstly, as many are pointing out, foundation courses are not same thing as standard courses. This is not an apples for apples comparison. Secondly, if anyone imagines cutting overseas student intakes wld free up spaces for UK students, they don't understand uni finances at all
It’s been a horrible few days. My family in the Catholic Church in Gaza city are reporting white phosphorous and gunfire into their compound. The bin collector and the janitor have been shot and their bodies are laying outside and remain uncollected. 1/2
