Very excited to share that our paper was just published today in PNAS! pnas.org/content/early/…
maximally informative. Her method is very resource efficient, allowing her to compute >1M cells on a fairly typical AWS instance. nature.com/articles/s4358…
Missing genes due to introns and poor 3’ annotations is such a big problem across so many single-cell datasets and @Allan_HPool’s method offers a rational, systematic way to address it. So happy to see this work out now!
First Pool Lab pre-print: bit.ly/3yoewcy. We resolve a major pain with 3’ single-cell RNA-sequencing (10x Genomics etc.) – missing gene expression data from thousands of genes. This stems from suboptimal reference transcriptomes and can easily be recovered. T below: 1/12
Once you hit your mid-30s, you realize that the most popular social media platform is now holiday cards.
We are hiring!! Looking to hire a research technician to execute a focused project on exploring human cell surface proteins on the human immune system using single-cell RNA-seq. phf.tbe.taleo.net/phf03/ats/care…
The leading edge is an incredible group of insanely talented scientists. I can't recommend it more.

So sad to hear Arthur Mattuck has passed. I took more classes from him than any other prof. I'll never forget how he roasted us to make us pay more attention. "Grading your homework was like prospecting for gold, or even silver.... or maybe just lead." news.mit.edu/2021/arthur-ma…
Congrats to all of the authors and especially Victoria for and @BernaSozen_ ! Looking forward to seeing where the next generation of synthetic embryo technology goes!
My heartfelt thanks for this work to my institution @Caltech @PDN_Cambridge @Cambridge_Uni My wonderful lab @MZG_Lab and especially @BernaSozen_ , my first Caltech PhD student Victoria Jorgensen, my PhD student in Cambridge @BailWeatherbee, and wonderful @sisichen & @zhumeng123
Does anyone know of a stem cell review article that details every single cell type that can be generated through in vitro differentiation?
Congrats David! What a labor of love.
The preprint for my main PhD project is out! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…. We characterize the cell types in the brain (cortex) that get targeted by different AAV gene therapy vehicles (in mice ;) )
Non-scientists: what sources of information did you consult about the covid vaccine that made you decide to take it?
The more you know! 💫
You know #lithiumion batteries have the power to change the world. But do you know what a #lithium ion battery actually is, and what makes it different from other battery technology? Listen as our CTO, Dr. AK Srouji, breaks it down for you in his latest Q&A session. #batterytech
Got my first dose of the (mRNA) vaccine today. Thank you, Katalin Kariko! 🙏🏼👩🏼🔬
My boyfriend took a bite of my ice cream but wouldn’t let me have a bite of his. He calls it a “one-way trade”

Had a blast talking to @Organometallica on the SLAS podcast! I forgot to mention on the podcast that Dianne Newman is the one who, when I was having a hard time, first gave me the advice to think about and reflect on what brings you joy in science. She is just a real gem ✨💎

Technical question: have people had success with single cell atac-seq on formaldehyde fixed cells?
This is an awesome story! Stem cells from different species compete with each other. This could pose an obstacle for generating interspecies chimeras (but also an interesting scientific opportunity). Congrats to @leo_jwu!
A new story from the lab published in Nature today. We found an intriguing cell competitive interaction between primed PSCs among different species! Human (green) are actively eliminated by mouse (red) cells.
