Game Master is a pretty good catch-all. Am I more a Facilitator or Coordinator, more Arbiter or Storyteller? I am all. I am a Game Master.
R-Type for the Commodore Amiga was developed by German studio Factor 5—known for their similar shooter Katakis—and published by Activision in 1989, serving as a licensed port of Irem's influential 1987 arcade horizontal shooter that defined the genre.
🚨Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock (2017) is delisted🚨 I'm furious. Starting Nov. 15, this game and all its DLCs will no longer be available for purchase on any platform. If you already own the game, you can continue playing it. Please don's miss it, it's a great BSG game.
No better example of how Trump has destroyed America's basic democratic norms than the fact that he keeps pardoning Republicans convicted by juries of crimes simply because they are Republicans, and it's barely even a major story. abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireS…
I have an insurmountable mental block around this module: I have never been able to read the title without mentally converting “Alphaks” to “Alphakis.” Why? I have no idea.
M2, Vengeance of Alphaks, from TSR, 1986 for the D&D Master Set rules. Set in the basic D&D world of Mystara. The module was designed by Skip Williams, with cover art is by Jeff Easley, and interior art by Mark Nelson and cartography by David C. Sutherland III. The immortal…
As a university undergrad, a friend of mine let me borrow his Amiga over the winter break. I took it to my parents’ house, set it up in the living room, and my friends and I played games on it every day. There were a lot of games, but the only one we played was Test Drive II.
Hello retro folks 😎 How you doin' ? ☕️ 🕹️ The Duel: Test Drive II (1989), Amiga
“Dark City” is possibly my favorite ‘reality is not what it seems’ film out of all of them that came out in the 1990s.
“Dark City (1998) by Alex Proyas is a great visionary achievement, a film so original and exciting, it stirred my imagination like Metropolis (1927) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)" - Roger Ebert
As someone who didn’t play Mass Effect until last month, I didn’t care about this expedition when it came around previously. But now I’m intrigued.
The Normandy is coming to No Man's Sky today in The Beachhead expedition! 🤖 We remain THE BIGGEST Mass Effect fans and we I can't describe how happy this makes us 🤯 Happy N7 Day Everybody! 🥳
Anyone who references any AI as an authority on any subject is not a person to be taken seriously.
Yesterday I shared a lovely bit of folklore, and one person's immediate response was to ask Grok whether the tale was “true” and then call me a liar. I can tell some of you have no exposure to myths & folktales because you miss their purpose entirely. Your soul has no whimsy.
Starship Troopers released 28 years ago today. 7 November 1997🚀🪲
A very good movie, which is also the inspiration for the Coen Brothers’ “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” (the name of the film-within-the-film in “Sullivan’s Travels”).
Happy Birthday Joel McCrea (1905-1990) Sullivan's Travels 1941 directed by Preston Sturges with Veronica Lake
Perfect example of why jury trials matter. The government had to argue—in public—that throwing a sandwich at a man in a bulletproof vest caused “fear of immediate bodily harm.” And the jury called that what it was: overreach. Prosecutors shouldn’t go unchecked.
A jury has acquitted the D.C. "Sandwich Guy," despite testimony from a Border Patrol officer about the devastating impact of the footlong sandwich against his bulletproof vest. reason.com/2025/11/06/d-c…
I always felt like “Cleopatra” (1963) is an amazing film, an astonishingly lavish spectacle that manages to surpass “Cleopatra” (1934) - a feat which was thought to be impossible until then. I was surprised to learn recently that the film was considered a bomb in the 60s.
Everything in this scene is real. Every detail. We can still make films like this.
Secret of Monkey Island 2 is the entry in the series I’ve played the least, but it is great. I never understood the appeal of the King’s Quest games, as they seemed/seem like exercises in masochism: there’re multiple ways to unexpectedly die on every screen: surprise! Game over!
The Secret of Monkey Island 2 (LucasArts, 1991) is a game that just blew me away when I first saw it. It's difficult to explain to the younger generation, but for someone who grew up with the Atari 2600 and C64, seeing a game like Monkey Island 2 was almost too good to be true.…
It would never have occurred to me to watch a Gojira film dubbed, but I must admit that this seems pretty funny.
