It's all happening this week. First, I celebrate 10 years working at @AzulSystems . Then, Azul gets new strategic investment from Thoma Bravo. Today, Azul has been re-elected to the JCP EC. And, it's still only Wednesday!

Today marks ten years since I joined @AzulSystems. It's been a great time with lots of #Java. Here's to the next ten years. Maybe!

Took my first Waymo journey in San Francisco yesterday. Quite a surreal experience, sitting in the front passenger seat next to an empty driver's seat, watching the car drive itself. LIDAR is definitely something autonomous cars need.

If anyone is interested in the slides from my @Devoxx BoF session on Modern Java Puzzlers, they can be found here: slideshare.net/slideshow/java…

Hey @Budget, I booked an intermediate car from you, which said Toyota Corolla (or similar). What I got was a Hyundai Venue, which is classified as a sub-compact SUV. When I queried this, I was told this was a 2-level upgrade. Seriously?! You don't even hide this on the receipt!!

The majority of people in the UK who are currently protesting about immigrants arriving in small boats are of Anglo-Saxon origin. That would be the same Anglo-Saxons who arrived in the UK in small boats from the 5th to 11th centuries. Oh, the irony!

The view from my hotel this morning in Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. About the closest thing you’ll get to waking up in the morning and thinking you’re on a different planet. 😀

I’m in La Paz, Bolivia, and this is the first hotel I’ve ever stayed in that’s offered bottled oxygen as a service 🤔

I love @KodiTV for streaming videos I have on a server, but how is it that the developers have never managed to figure out how to sync the server's directories accurately with what's shown in the menus? I mean, this is not complicated.

Why is everything online such a struggle? @AmexUK @AskAmex, you sent me a message saying I'm near my credit limit. OK. I use your app, and it shows transactions that are only a third of the way to my limit. How can you not provide accurate information?

I genuinely didn't believe this was possible. But it is. @Iberia has worse IT systems than BA. Here's the message I got when I tried to use the online check-in this morning.

What’s going on, @Iberia ? You’re letting all of group 1 and 2 through boarding, yet there’s nowhere for us to go. Chaos ensues!

Anybody else think the Monaco Grand Prix was a complete waste of time? Driving slowly to back up other drivers so your teammate can get a free pit stop is not what I want to watch as @F1. The two pit-stop rule change made for a ridiculous "race".

I honestly thought @British_Airways IT systems could not be beaten for how bad they are. Obviously, I hadn't tried @Iberia. I guess they are both part of the same group...

Hey, @Iberia_en @Iberia. You tell me I have items pending payment, but you provide no way to make a payment. How am I supposed to pay???

Steve Elliott was my host manager when I joined Sun back in 1996. He and I share an obsession with keeping Java memorabilia; he has way more than I do. Check out his 30 years of Java photo compilation here: flickr.com/photos/jabberw…

Hey, @AskNationwide, why do you bury verification messages under settings -> security? These are *not* settings, but messages. Under the 'help' section, it says verification messages can be accessed from the menu in the app. This is not helpful, or useful.

House flies have to be the stupidest creatures on the planet. How do they still manage to survive?

Outstanding customer service from @TfL this morning. The 0630 District line from Richmond was cancelled but you couldn’t even be bothered to make an announcement. Big round of applause 👏👏👏

The new website look for @British_Airways is so good, I can't even login using Google Chrome (it just loops me back to the home page without asking for credentials). Just how bad can their IT systems get?
