Direct hit! A beautiful, full-halo CME is now leaving the Sun following the X1.2 flare, and it's heading right for us. We'll have to see what the models think about this one, but we now have two Earth-directed CMEs coming at us and a good chance for geomagnetic storms Nov 11-12.
Today the Sun produced an X1.8-class #SolarFlare (the highest category). The event also triggered an Earth-directed coronal mass ejection, although we are still yet-uncertain of the likely strength or timings of the impact at Earth. #spaceweather
The eruption on November 9, around 7 UT, was associated with an X1.7 flare from AR 14274. The amplitude of the coronal wave was not very high, but the disturbances spread widely and quickly. I agree that the CME from this eruption may noticeably impact us during November 11-12.

X1.8 flare that occurred just two hours ago. AR 14274 is still active, although I feel this one is a little less dynamic, globally speaking, than the earlier event from the same region.
Here we go! Region 4274 fires a big X1.8-flare now! HF and VHF radio is getting hammered by an R3-level radio blackout. Expect degraded radio & GPS reception over the next hour on Earth's dayside, especially the Western Hemisphere, Hawaii & West Africa (colored regions in map).
A lot going on within AR4274, supportive of it's continued eruptive behavior. This will definitely be the region to keep the closest eye on over the coming days/weeks, assuming it sustains itself. 💥
