Another nail in the coffin here. I recommend joining Mastodon and using movetodon.org to find as many of your existing Twitter follows before this cutoff happens. I've already found plenty of folks I follow on Twitter and my timeline is nice and active!
Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵
Now that 3rd party Twitter clients are officially dead, I think it's time to officially squash the beef that we had with @CarbonWebOS ❤️ It was a nice app, and a formidable rival in the webOS app catalog 🙂 (someone will need to tell them for me)
it appears that twitter revoked application tokens for any 3rd party clients that replicate the core functionality of twitter (tweetbot, etc). i'm speculating of course because this garbage company hasn't communicated anything to anyone.
did Twitter kill 3rd party clients tonight? Can’t authenticate with Tweetbot and I’m seeing others report the same.
