Every relationship has its limitations. China is the limitation on Russia relationship. But both India and Russia can work around on many other things. Ultimately China and Pakistan are India’s problems and will have to be solved by India alone.
When China picks a fight with India, Russia won't come to India's rescue. It won't even offer moral support. US will offer moral support and some supplies of weapons. May be some intelligence. This much is obvious to everyone.
Though Putin called RU /CN have limitless partnership -- reality is RU is afraid about CN's unprecedented economic growth, greed for land, and military build-up. RU and CN have long boundary and fought a war before. CN also has claim on RU territory.
Israel is against Pakistan and USA is against China due to its own dynamics. Russia is actually one country which can provide alternative to US technology in limited area. Although, we can't compare might of US with Russia.
I am not sure why anyone think, China will plan any major attack, that too a country like India. border problems may keep happening, Major war with China wont happen.
