Political views, food preferences, bad jokes, opinions on books and TV, boasts about baking are all MINE and nothing to do with my employer. I tweet, as should be obvious, as an individual.

I'm generally avoiding X/Twitter, but I'm case this gets through all the noise: I'm at #ASEConf2025 today and it would be great to catch up with anyone I know, IRL or virtually. Find me in the physics foyer from 0930 to 1100 ish.

To be fair, what teachers hasn't at some point idly considered beating a pupil over the head with a chair?

I think assisted dying is incredibly important - and that's why getting it right matters. For contrast, the referendum bill and phrasing was rushed and look how that turned out.

"Your film continues uninterrupted after this break." Umm, @AmazonVideo , I don't think those words mean what you think they mean.

Congratulations to the new group of IOP Scholars. Today we welcomed them to the National Space Centre for the launch of their Scholarship Programme. They met their @ogdentrust mentors and took part in activities ranging from fluorescing tonic water to magnetic levitation.

All six Tory leadership contenders have pledged to fight VAT on private schools. Not one of them has promised more money for state schools. And there you have it.

If you're a Kindle person, or know someone who is, you should definitely get this.

Doctors looking after elderly people who were later found to be in the last 6 months of life ordered & repeated radiology tests - a diversionary behaviour to avoid talking about dying? You know who you are. Or perhaps, more worryingly, you don't. Well done, @JoeHawk75825077

If the person you’re dunking on has a blue tick, they will literally be paid for the extra views your quote tweet gives them. Hope that illuminates the dynamics of this platform

I'm trying out Bluesky for reasons that should be obvious. <gestures around at Musk's Twitter>. Find me at bsky.app/profile/teachi…

The problems are clear but the solutions less so...

And so it begins... As pupil numbers dwindle, local authorities are going to end up being forced to close good schools if inadequate ones are protected within academy trust... schoolsweek.co.uk/council-loses-…

A key difference between the so called 'illegal' asylum seekers in hotels and the people trying to burn them down is that only the latter have actually done anything illegal. It's not illegal to seek political asylum. It is however illegal to torch a building. You're welcome.

A suggestion for the running brands - how about some technical tops with text reading "rehab sucks", "necessary but boring easy day" and "tapering *is* training."
