Clear and measured. Nothing escalatory at the moment. Good statement. Let's see what's next. Lots of back channel discussions have been on in the last few weeks, while not amounting to much they have their uses.
#BREAKING: Cabinet passes resolution on Explosion near Red Fort in Delhi. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, expressed its profound grief over the loss of lives in the terrorist incident involving a car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi on the…
I’d put the Dhaka attacks in separate category from blasts elsewhere. Seems a clear case of domestically driven poli violence. Targeting (eg gov’t & NCP) suggests Sheikh Hasina/AL supporters motivated by coming ICT verdict re Hasina. Islamabad/Delhi cases fuzzier & not as clear.
And apparently coordinated (but no/low casualty) attacks in Dhaka, too. I would just say: political violence is ubiquitous in South Asia and coincidences do happen.

Huge credit to Jammu and Kashmir Police @JmuKmrPolice and central security agencies for foiling a series of attacks that was being planned. Had JKP not arrested the first doctor whose interrogation led to seizure of 352 KG of explosives and other arms and IED making equipment,…
❗️India continues to experience a water crisis as climate change, urbanisation & unsustainable population growth cause severe shortages. In this chapter for the Chanakya National Security Journal @RakshaUni , @theidlethinker & @namrata_kabra argue that water is at the heart of…
Not yet clear if this was a terror incident. But coupled with what happened in Faridabad, some threads will be drawn. We should wait till there is more clarity from the authorities. Hope no more casualties...😞

“South Asia’s largest economy is surprisingly stable. This year the country has been both a victim of.. Trump’s trade war, singled out for especially punitive tariffs owing to its purchases of Russian oil, and a participant in a shooting war with nuclear-armed Pakistan.” 1/9

Because nothing changed from last year. Except Delhi govt trying to bring air pollution record down by spraying water around monitoring towers. A conversation with @confusedvichar on the science, politics and business of air pollution. 👇

For this and many other reasons we definitely need to grow thicker skins..
For once, I agree with @Swapan55! Rolling out an “unwelcome mat“ at our airport immigration counters to deport foreign scholars and academics because of trivial visa violations is doing us far more damage — as a country, a culture and an internationally-credible nation — than…

When fame meets sarkaari patronage, you can say stunningly stupid things and still dance like a peacock. For what it’s worth, this very "rooted" naacheez has read and cited Francesca Orsini in his book. (p. 14, ABV vol. I hardback ed).
.@authoramish Amish, there is a difference between speaking a language and investigating its history, politics, linguistics, etc., in a scholarly way. You are writing in English. There is voluminous scholarship about its history, formation, philology, and so on. There are…
I have no views on this scholar Francesca Orsini. Had never heard of her. But those of us from a rooted background, who speak Hindi at home, read Hindi books as well, can only roll our eyes at this rather bizarre claim that 'few have shaped our understanding' of Hindi literary…
More power to your pen/keyboard @betwasharma Congratulations!
The India I know and love: @betwasharma's speech while accepting the honour for journalism from AMU Alumni International.
Ha! I think half the world's population might have something to say about this....😏
I respectfully disagree. If you do not belong to a privileged group, you have to be twice as good to be considered half as worthy.
Great advice from @Iyervval . We get pushed around because we dont know our rights. All so called plain clothes customs officers at airports should be made to wear name tags so we can report them. Many of them should be suspended forthwith anyway @nsitharamanoffc @nsitharaman
PS know your rights when dealing with corrupt @Delhicustoms (or any customs) 1) video record all interactions 2) if they object - ask them to produce a government order or gazette marking the area as non-recordable (only airport technical areas and immigration are off limits,…
