As the Senator well knows, SEPTA's capital budget has been historically less than half of what peer agencies have spent. The PTTF was created as a way to overcome this deficit. If they did not have emergency funds available, they'd be criticized for that instead.
Senate Republicans agree that a solution for mass transit is important, but SEPTA’s mismanagement of funds got them to this point. Fortunately, @PASenateGOP found $2.4 billion in unused PTTF money which has been a lifeline for Gov. Shapiro and SEPTA.
I think Democrats really should do more of this style of politics, where they go to stereotypically “red” parts of the country and actually talk to people. You find it’s not right vs. left, it’s wealthy elites vs. the rest of us.
