Mayor M of NY said that the overthrow of Maduro has an effect on the Venezuelans of NY. You're right, Mr. Mayor - they are deliriously happy.
Under the You Gotta Be Kidding Me category, NYT's Julian Barnes says the rationale for the boat strikes is "misleading". Why? Because the recent boats struck were carrying Cocaine, not Fentanyl; and Maduro is not the head of the drug cartel, he only "profits" from it!
Another free-fall day for the stock market. Better tax the rich quick before they're the poor.
Mr. Mamdani cited Eugene V. Debs in his victory speech. Yes, the same Debs who greeted anarchist Emma Goldman with, "Don't call me Mr. Debs, call me Comrade."
Smerconish question for the day was which wing of the Dem. party to follow - Spanberger or Mamdani. Sorry, Michael. That ship has already sailed. The new mayor has already achieved one of his goals - affordable housing. Residential real estate prices in NY are dropping fast.
David Brooks' editorial in the NYT today is insightful. Our democracy is suffering from progressive brain rot. We are all about 'fighting', not 'persuasion'. Our leaders have picked up the cudgel. Let's remember Plato's thoughts about the mob mentality of populist democracy.
And, of course, Hillary objects to the renovation. She says it isn't Trump's house, "it's our house." A little sour grapes there, Hillary?
It's true, Republicans keep renovating the White House. Teddy Roosevelt built the East Wing, Calvin Coolidge added a floor, and now Trump is renovating the West Wing. Yes, Truman gutted the entire place, but what will these fascists do next - paint the place?
Looking at Rep. Jeffries shouting at the "No Kings" rally reminds of the warnings about direct democracy leading to mob rule, by Alexander Hamilton, Plato, and Aristotle.
NYT has hit a new low. David Sanger quotes Tony Blinken endlessly, about how Biden's team was all set to end the war, and Trump's election set it back by 8 months. No credit to Trump throughout the whole paper, just an edition dedicated to nitpicking at every aspect of his work.
Trump, 79, Needs to Be Reminded When He’s Supposed to Speak at His Big Address thedailybeast.com/donald-trump-7… via @thedailybeast This is the winner of the Sour Grape of the Day award. C'mon, Tom, just a little credit for today, rather than a not-so-subtle comparison to Biden.

This would be a good time for Pope Leo to become really ecumenical, walk the walk, reach across the aisle, and canonize the Christian martyr, Charlie Kirk.
This morning, the NYT (not the Post) published an article stating that NY is losing its millionaires to CA, FL, and TX. Not surprising, but remarkable that the Times admitted that those millionaires are 1% of the population and pay 40% of the taxes. Are you listening, Bernie?
Just heard Mr. Mamdani state that episodes like last night's gang shooting in Bklyn is why NYC needs his Crisis Management Team. Not sure how they would have helped last night. "Gentlemen, could you please put down your guns and have a civilized discussion?"
I am not bothered by Mr. Mamdani living in a rent-controlled (i.e. - subsidized) apartment. I'm only interested in HOW he became eligible for this. Was it due to need or connections?
The citizens of New York have every right to elect a Socialist mayor. If this results in the mass exodus of taxpayers, and a failure of the utopian experiment, I assume that they would not expect the rest of us (Florida, Texas) to bail them out.
