An individual must be registered to work as an agent, but also must be employed/sponsored by a firm to become registered. Seems paradoxical, but is usually done with “conditional hiring” or “pre-registration employment.”
Learning about registration requirements for broker dealers and agents - same “form BD” to register w the state and SEC. But do you have to register with an SRO (eg FINRA) if you’re state registered??
I didn’t realize how confusing the rules for #brokerdealers vs #investmentadvisers was. It’s not DIFFICULT, but they’re so similar that the lines are easily blurred. 10/10 recommend drilling on these rules between the two #series63
