Want to learn about using tabs in vim (think browser tabs)? I've uploaded a new post on Tabbed Editing in Vim vim.works/2019/06/24/tab… as always, your feedback is welcomed
I love vim plugins with good documentation. I hate vim plugins that think I only want to read their good documentation _in Vim_. If you're making a plugin, please give it at least a good README page on GitHub (or equivalent).
Happy to report that my recent job search has ended and I've once again working on vim.works. Next post is going to be about using tabs in vim. Holler if you've got questions or opinions / thoughts on this topic.
Uploaded a new post last night walking folks through the power of marks. vim.works/2019/04/22/mar… As always, let me know what you think, and what you'd like to learn about next.
Tip: if you find yourself using Vim's :terminal feature a lot, but also accidentally typing :q in the shell , just create a shell alias to make :q call exit. Voilla, now :q will close your terminal in vim, AND you can now use it in the terminal when not in vim. :)
The hardest part of updating this site is figuring out what to update it with. That being said, every post takes _way_ longer to write than I'd anticipated because OMG there's a _lot_ to learn and say about pretty much _every_ topic. Anything you want to know more about?
I've just added a new post on Split Window Aesthetics. It discusses various visual changes you can implement to make working with split windows easier for your brain. vim.works/2019/04/10/spl…
Would you folks be interested in a series of posts comparing various popular editors to Vim and seeing how close Vim can come to their best features? I'd need some help from power users of other editors...
Just came across the DimInactive plugin. It dims inactive splits. Really useful if you regularly use splits and find yourself sometimes typing in the wrong one. github.com/blueyed/vim-di… I'd recommend changing your ColorColumn value though because vim's default is hideous.

I started working on a post about using Markdown in Vim last night. It's turned into a rabbit hole of learning. Spending almost as much time updating existing posts as I am writing the Markdown post.
I've completely rewritten the buffers page and added a separate page on registers. I'd failed to notice that some of the functionality I'd been using for years was actually coming from a plugin. It was so "duh" I thought it must be built in.
Any interest in a post and video about working with Markdown in Vim? patreon.com/posts/vim-mark…
I had 2 posts titled "Cursor Movement in Vim" One was a placeholder. I've removed it and improved the detailed one, which you can find here: http://localhost:1313/2019/03/03/cursor-movement-in-vim/
That feeling when I see a colleague using a text editor other than Vim... :)
