Genuary Day 25 - Perspective #genuary #genuary2022 #generativeart #b3d
Well it took nearly 6 full weeks, and the section on simplifying rational expressions, but I finally got “When will I ever need to know this” in class today.
In the classroom @MLWGS the 20-21 school year was all about the small wins and get through as smoothly as possible. So when I open the summary page for my AP Comp Sci students and find the best scores I’ve ever had… we went from small win to walk off grand slam!
Good news for me: I think I found someone to win me a Millennium Prize for only $65! If they are successful then maybe I can win a couple more of the Prizes. claymath.org/millennium-pro…
I think the "Eye of Cthulhu" from @Terraria_Logic should look something like this. (Can you guess what it is?)
This is a super interesting effect - any vision science folks want to have a stab at what prompts the odd sensation of it feeling out of focus?
Today a roving gang of seniors, dubbed “Webb Kids” walked into my mostly empty, last period classroom wanting a place to stay. Smiling I said they could stay as long as they didn’t disrupt my class, knowing full well that they knew they would. Some things never graduate.
Had my first “full” in-person classroom today. Full now means 12 students, and if a 13th shows up I have to send them to the cafeteria to watch class synchronously on zoom. Question is, will students rush to be in the 12 or stall to be in the cafeteria.
Every once in a while a student of mine will ask question I didn’t expect or consider but truly enjoy answering. described Turing’s Halting Problem QUICKLY in class to show there’s some questions in CS we can’t answer. Notice the time...student thought about this for a LONG time
Found Advent of Code this year. Regex has always been intimidating to me. I knew day 4 was going to be #regex intensive, so I skipped it. Today I studied up and went for it: I've completed "Passport Processing" - Day 4 - Advent of Code 2020 adventofcode.com/2020/day/4 #AdventOfCode
This seems like it will be fun! I've completed "Report Repair" - Day 1 - Advent of Code 2020 adventofcode.com/2020/day/1 #AdventOfCode
Do NOT tell me that I should be automating this process
I like to imagine my 14-15 year old freshmen pulling up their asynchronous Friday Stats lecture expecting.......a stats lecture, and having to sit through this opener. I have no. Shame. #virtuallearning
4th year I’ve taught AP Comp Sci at my school. We had no CS options before I pushed a program. first year I had one section of approx 24, and only 2 girls. Year 4 I have 3 sections and 66 students, 27 of which are lady comp scientists. 8% to 40% is something I’m proud of!
Hopefully my students will only have to endure 9 weeks of this “class opening theme”, because I WILL play it every time.
Well that took significantly less time to create than I thought it might..... @LEGO_Group inspired art possibilities just went way up!
Put this together as a weekend project. Essentially it’s physical pixel art with single space @LEGO_Group bricks. This was a prepackaged kit, but there’s lots of potential back in my #mathart and #digitalart world.
