Recently, while controlling traffic at a collision, a deputy had to jump into a ditch to avoid being hit by an on-coming car that ended up plowing into the patrol car. The driver was arrested by the Washington State Patrol for DUI. Please: Drive sober. Move over, slow down.

Today, Sept 13, is the anniversary of the tragic loss of WCSO Deputy Matt Herzog, who died in the line of duty from car crash injuries while pursuing a felony offender in 2001. We remember and honor Matt for his sacrifice and service to Whatcom County. His spirit lives on at WCSO
