I submitted an FOI request to the GMC asking them about the tax they pay. Turns out, the GMC do not pay tax. They class doctors' fees as charity. They take £500/yr from doctors, pay zero tax on it, and use it to give their staff £250k salaries and private healthcare.
This image breaks me. At 2.7 degrees of warming, which is our present policy trajectory, two billion people will be exposed to extreme heat. 99.7% of those people live in the global South. People who have done nothing to cause this crisis. The injustice is staggering.

Those doctors who striked, I urge you to check your pay deductions As per @BMA_JuniorDocs guidance you should be deducted 1/365 of your annual salary for every strike day and not the number of hours! (Unless your hourly rate of a day is less than 1/365 of your salary - unlikely)

Three years tonight since the first of the claps for the NHS We appreciated the claps! If you meant it then, please support doctors, nurses and other NHS staff now, as they campaign to make their pay worth as much it was before years of austerity and inflation stripped it away.

5% pay rise for a band 5 nurse starting salary of £27,055 annually is £1352. Realistically about £65 a month better off. With energy bills being £100s a month more expensive. Will be interesting to see how it plays out but it’s hardly inspiring…
