0/ WHAT’S ONE THING YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE SOONER? - I often get asked by new founders, product managers, tech leads, etc “If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?”. I always say - prioritize learning how to #recruit. Here's why:
.@carolecadwalla went to TED2019 and challenged tech leaders about the corrosive impact of social networks on democracy. @TEDTalks Can liberal democracies survive weaponised disinformation and targeted ads that run loops around election laws? ted.com/talks/carole_c…

I’ve had the good fortune to be an investor for almost 15 years and have backed 100s of startups. Only one company in all that time deliberately defrauded its VCs. Catastrophes like Theranos (not an investor) are shocking in part because outright fraud is mercifully rare. /1
VCs and Angels, which early stage startup that you’re currently invested in are you most confident will turn out to be a #unicorn? Question inspired by the #Pinterest and #Zoom IPOs.
What was I thinking when I decided to fund @ericsyuan with no product, plan, or terms..to create @zoom_us ? What happens post seed? I’d forgotten how hard it was to get any VC interest. Wrote so many emails it became “cut and paste” to articulate what I saw in Eric & TeamZoom
When VCs say "Founder Friendly", what does that mean to you? #startups #founders #fundraising #VentureCapital
1/ We Pivoted a few yrs ago. This is the story- mostly my feelings. It has never been told publicly. This will be rambly and represents the chaos in my head at the time. There is [hopefully] no advice here. I don’t know if we did it right.
Dominik Vacikar @chichikid shares major insights he's learned over years at startups. Real value here for founders. "I sincerely hope it will help at least one of you to avoid making the same mistakes that I have made." medium.com/p/10-life-less…
Pinterest's initial market cap is $10 billion. Zoom's is $9.2 billion. Pinterest raised over $1.4 billion from VCs. Zoom raised $160 million.

Wow, IBM had a 20% equity stake in Intel in 1982 but sold out in 1986 for $625m. Ten years later that stake would have been worth $25bn. IBM also had the option to buy 30% of Microsoft in 1986 for <$300m. They didn't. Even by 1996 that would have been worth $33bn+.
I’m fascinated with how many of the current big successes were pivots. Slack, Discord, Lyft etc It’s hard enough to execute on a good idea. Now imagine the first set of ideas not working, being nearly out of cash and having to race against time to find something that might.
We are evolved for frequent, visible, small wins and to ignore the infrequent, hidden, catastrophic risks. Entrepreneurs bleed every day, but when they win, they win big.
We’re here at EDCON in Sydney meeting Ethereum project founders and developers. Today’s panel including @VitalikButerin, @karl_dot_tech, and @sassal0x was a key highlight. @Linktimetech @ethhub_io @ethereum
