As the very tired organizer of this event, I would love and appreciate your retweet, even if you don't think you know anyone in the area. 🙏

Please keep this simple: If you require schools to teach the “personal benefits” of slavery you are pro-slavery. Ron DeSantis is pro-slavery.

PSA for children’s writers! Just finished watching a really interesting zoom chat by US MG/YA editors - here were the main notes I jotted down… 1. there is a real appetite for supernatural, creepy horror, even among those editors who weren’t generally big horror fans

Whenever someone asks me if there's one thing I can share from winning RevPit, it's this. A REVERSE OUTLINE. It's the most powerful editing tool that's going to elevate your manuscript to the next level! ✨ melodythio.wixsite.com/author/post/wr…

There's no way I can do this all in a single Twitter thread, but I at least want to cover the basics as to how a writer goes about structuring a novel. Whether we're talking about outlining, writing, or revising, the following are some ways to build out your manuscript. 🧵 1/?

Illinois has banned book bans. Gov. Pritzker signed into law a bill that requires libraries to adopt ALA’s Library Bill of Rights, which states that “materials should not be proscribed or removed because of partisan or doctrinal disapproval.” #bannedbooks bit.ly/3oS3wCd

Sharing this definition because the word "indictment" is trending on our website again for some reason.

indictment noun a formal accusation initiating a criminal case, presented by a grand jury and usually required for felonies and other serious crimes. dictionary.com/browse/indictm…

Many people are upset about the bible being removed from school libraries. When we pass poor laws and policies lots of books that shouldn't be pulled get swept up in the purge. Let's work together on common sense solutions so The Bible and The Bluest Eye aren't targeted as porn.

Just got off a zoom with a very talented young filmmaker I'm (sort of) mentoring -- and I shared an exercise that I find useful for storytelling. I'll share it here too in case it helps someone reading...

1. Don’t telegraph your punchlines. Often with banter, Char A has to tee up so Char B can quip. But authors often seem to forget that A doesn’t know what B is going to say. A’s dialogue has to stand alone. Is that line something someone would say? Does it make sense on its own?
