Excited to share the next work of my PhD now out in @J_A_C_S! We discovered that substituting the native iron center of nonheme iron enzymes with copper enables them to catalyze alkene oxytrifluoromethylation to form β-, γ-, and δ-lactones. Check it out!

More on copper catalysis in nonheme enzymes: we have engineered hydroxymandelate synthase to catalyze alkene oxytrifluoromethylation, generating a broad range of chiral trifluoromethyl-containing β-, γ-, and δ-lactones with high enantioselectivity (pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…). This…

Excited to share that the first work of my PhD is now officially out in @J_A_C_S!

Our work on nonheme iron enzyme-catalyzed olefin trifluoromethylative difunctionalization is now published in @J_A_C_S ! (link: pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102… Previous ChemRxiv version chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi…). This study was led by graduate students @zhangg_james & @ajhuls1 , with key…

It's been a long time coming but the first work of my PhD is now finally out as a preprint on @ChemRxiv! Big thanks to everyone involved and especially to @xiongyih for the continuous support that made this possible!

Excited to share the preprint of our latest work, led by graduate students James Zhang @zhangg_james and Anthony Huls @ajhuls1, on engineering nonheme iron enzymes for new-to-nature transformations! We evolved hydroxymandelate synthase from Amycolatopsis orientalis (AoHMS) to…
