Happy #WomenInScienceDay ! I'm a materials scientist using #atomprobe to study the effect of oxygen and nitrogen on titanium aerospace alloys. This month I'm on placement @RollsRoyceUK in the Failure Investigation team, getting up close and personal with real life jet engines ✈️
Are you interested in #atomprobe? Wanna do your own #3D reconstructions? Working on grain boundaries, interfaces, line defects, etc.? Join us for the upcoming atom probe winter school. Again fully online!
I’m thrilled to have our atom probe research on bone tissue and bioceramic implants featured on the SMM display screens at @Sydney_Uni @Sydney_CRF @micro_au - Madsen building F09 ground floor #atomprobe
It’s quite amazing how far bits of your specimens coat the micro electrode in an #atomprobe. It’s easy to see in our instrument with copper electrodes. The hole is 100 micron for scale.
Props to NIST for organising an awesome APT&M 2018. Thanks for all of your hard work! After a brief 31 year hiatus the Oxford Atom Probe Group are honoured to be hosting APT&M 2020. We hope you will all come and join us! #atomprobe More info soon!
Awesome showing at the joint MPIE-Oxford virtual workshop! Great science on display and interesting discussions had #AtomProbe #GoCrows
Want to use our #atomprobe toolbox and you already have a lot of *.rrng files? Use the rrng import function! Automatic interpretation of charge states and isotope patterns included. Coming very soon. #HydMet
Ever wondered how an #atomprobe specimen evolves during electropolishing? Thanks to my bachelor student Alex Nowak we can watch in a time lapse. There is still some work to do, but this is an important step towards automation
Had such a great time taking the old 3DAP apart today with Francesca at @unileoben. Learned soo much! #atomprobe
Full commitment this morning ☕️🔬 kicked off the 2nd day of the SFB/TRR270 spring retreat 21 with some #atomprobe @TRR270
Happy International #WomenInScienceDay from everyone in the #AtomProbe group here at #OxfordMaterials, but especially from this bunch of kick-ass scientists!!
Got tons of specimens but can’t figure out which one is which?@ACSYSLaser showed us you can put a QR code even on an #atomprobe specimen
Back in the good ol' days, when we still had an #atomprobe, I found some magic wand hidden in my alloy 😊
Tested the in-situ heating/cooling stage in the @CAMECA_News #LEAP #atomprobe today up to 650C. 750C possible. No idea what to do with this, but maybe some of you out there have use for this 🤷🏻♂️. The stage can also be cooled to LN2. That’s why I built it originally.
First talk of the virtual Atom Probe Workshop between MPIE and @OxfordAtomProbe! David Saxey talking about #AtomProbe of geological materials - a cool new(ish) frontier for the technique
Today @StellaPe12 is visiting the #atomprobe group of @PFelfer in Erlangen and talking about “Corrosion & Oxidation of Ni-based Superalloys“

Oh SNAP! We are over the #Moon to announce we will be commissioning the first #AtomProbe facility in #Scotland thanks to generous funding from @EPSRC. The Space Nanomaterials Atom Probe (SNAP) will provide #atomic scale insights into #AdvancedMaterials.
A £5.3m grant from @EPSRC will establish @UofGlasgow as a leader in atom-by-atom analysis of materials which could support human habitations on the Moon and beyond. @Daly_Planet of @UofGGES will lead the installation of the new facility. Read more here: gla.ac.uk/news/headline_…
You have a reflection #atomprobe, but want to do your own reconstruction or FDM? Now you can! Just run our code. Only input is the instrument type you use. Compensating Image Distortions in a Commercial Reflectron-Type Atom Probe academic.oup.com/mam/article-ab…
So, I built a #Voron 2.4 350 over Christmas, and now I can print a prototype #UHV chamber in less than a day. Gamechanger for scientific instrument development. #atomprobe
Excited to hear our paper on how doping density affects metal assisted plasma etching (MAPE) is a 2024 HOT article by @MaterHoriz! Driven by Julia & Namphung from @ImperialBioeng, with cool #atomprobe work by James from @ImpMaterials! #RIE #lithography pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…
Early Christmas present: The remaining parts for the field ion microscope for high school outreach. It’s open source and made mostly from off the shelf parts, so anyone can replicate. Let me know if you’re interested! #atomprobe
Now, let’s do #laser #atomprobe of #hydrogen! Big thanks to @ERC_Research and @dfg_public for making it possible!
