As a first-gen, I often found it hard to access information that I needed. Like, how and where to apply for jobs, etc. And people were many times reluctant to give honest straightforward information they had or knew. This made me feel I didn't belong #firstgen #firstgeninstem
12 yrs ago I defended my PhD confident my OrgChem teacher wondered if hell froze. Attending a school that didn't offer bio/ecol & geared for preprofessional wasn't the best for me. I didn't know I could transfer schools & take those credits w/me. That's #firstgen #firstgeninstem
And, for those who question my mental abilities - read my papers, meet my students and my collaborators. And, remember I do not have ANY academic family in India - proud to be #firstgeninstem
