#JSVY2 had a special talk about the islands of Komodo from our Geography expert: Mr Pratt. They learnt about a unique creature to the island... the Komodo Dragon! What a great introduction to our new Geography unit.

Opening morning is here! #JSVY2 have been showing their parents what they have been learning this term. Instructional writing, multiplication, division, science experiments and paper aeroplane making in DT are just a few areas of learning that the children have enjoyed.
Well... what an unusual start to the day for #JSVY2. A crime scene was found in a classroom. What had happened to this poor flattened boy? Come to Year 2 to find out.
#JSVY2 had an active afternoon playing a range of different activities to get their hearts racing. They had opportunities to use their teamwork skills, hand-eye coordination, courage and perseverance.
#JSVY2 cooked up a storm in the kitchen making apple flappens. This was a great opportunity to follow instructions and identify the key features of an instruction text.
#JSVY2 have just begun their art unit by carefully sketching different imaginative fish. Important skills learnt today were to take their time, sketch lightly and think about variations of colour.

#JSVY2 are straight back into learning after a lovely half term break. This morning, they have been publishing their apology or complaint letter in English and investigating fractions in Maths. What a wonderful start to this half term!
#JSVY3 sharing their explanation texts with #JSVY2. Year 3 explained why turtle numbers are declining and gave tips on how to reduce our carbon footprint, preventing the problem from escalating.
#JSVY3 are now publishing their explanation texts, detailing why the population of sea turtles is plummeting. It’s great to see three weeks of research and writing coming together!

Come fly with me, we’ll fly, we’ll fly away! #JSVY2 have just embarked on their new DT unit: Paper aeroplanes! Research is a key starting point and therefore, each child made three different types of planes for testing. After testing, children choose their favourite.

How absorbent are different materials? #JSVY2 have been testing different material for their absorbency. They made thoughtful predictions and ensured that the experiment was a fair test. It is safe to say - Don't use tin foil to soak up a spill!
