On the other hand -- how to curate those patchsets effectively -- has been a big question mark for us even between @eve_edge and #linuxkit I'm still waiting for @justincormack and @neugebar to come back with a magic answer.
It is actually not an easy question as we found out with #linuxkit (@justincormack will say more). On one hand we all re-use similar upstream (e.g silly example that cracked me up github.com/bottlerocket-o… vs. ) but more to the point github.com/lf-edge/eve/tr…
btw, I'm also not your target user audience -- I'm somebody who's building a similar system @eve_edge for IoT/Edge on top of #linuxkit and obviously got pretty excited about leveraging things from your implementation. Your end users wouldn't care (unless image size) what is init.
Fair, but image size is not just an implementation detail. Again, when #linuxkit came out I was jumping with joy b/c they based it on Alpine/musl and cut out all the "modern linux on the server" crap out of it from userland. I was kind of expecting the same here.

Starting to dig into #bottlerocket - first impressions so far -Good news: loving all the Rust harness - really nicely done -Bad news: really NOT loving all the over-engineered upstream components like D-Bus and @systemdsucks In that later part #linuxkit still comes way on top
