Students are always asking for more time after our math stations. So much fun today reviewing and collaborating! #M.A.T.H #studentengagement #mathcpr #WestSideBestSide #mathreview @WSESSmithfield @ilovechalkdust
Could this be useful? Estimating, then pausing and updating the estimate after each movement? #mtbos #elemmathchat #iteachmath
Loving all of the engaging, (packet-less) forms of review happening around the district! Reviews where Ss are involved in peer discourse; where Ts are facilitators (clarifying/verifying)! Klein ISD literally has the best of the best! #teacherappreciationweek #kleinmath
We've been playing the Monopoly Deal card game non-stop since we got it! We have lots of discussion on money, decisions, and strategy. You need this game! #iTeachmath #math #maths #tabletopgames #games #cardGames #parenting Learn more: wp.me/p9rdIi-kl

We got surprised in grade 2 yesterday. We decided to count around the circle by 10, starting at 50. What will the 10th person say? Everyone thought 150. But— it was 140! Why?! We’re trying to figure it out.

Sixth graders at Roselawn use Desmos to work with area of composite figures! What great interactive experience with visuals!! @urbanesc #cpsmathandme
Way to go. #MathCPR
We are engaged and collaborating today with an @openmiddle problem. Thanks @robertkaplinsky ! My students are so excited and determined! No giving up in this room today! @GTMSTitans
Create a classroom environment that is driven by student voice. Watch how students move from concrete representations to applying their knowledge on a Google drawing to represent benchmark fractions, all in a days work! #EdTech #Collaborate #SELMatters @MindShiftKQED @edutopia
Example of #MathCPR 💚 from @kellys3ps
Having some great discussions about the 3-5 fraction progression! @JennieBeltro #coreadvocates #learnwithIM
Teaching fractions to young learners can seem overwhelming. Creating different colored cards which represent different fractions out of a whole piece of paper. Definitely a great technique to try in the field!

He said “malpractice.” He said it. Malpractice. We’ve heard this word twice in a week. @MathEdLeaders #NCSM19 @steve_leinwand
My 2nd graders❤️word problems. Today, 2 of them created this one and then our entire class worked independently to solve it. The two writers ❤️d checking in on their peers progress. The kids celebrated the writers😊 #elemathchat #mathteachers #2ndgradechat @teacher2teacher
I love this context for introducing Least Common Multiple to students. How many hot dogs and buns should Steve Martin buy? bit.ly/2i8Pww5 #iteachmath #MTBoS
@MathCPR @mathonthebrain #MathCPR. 🍏 Thanks @RyanFoster25
Developing a formula for, and finding, the area of a rt triangle has been a challenge for Ss. Biggest mistake: misapply procedure for finding area of rectangle. This yr. Ts and I created a developmental progression. Will this approach deepen learning? Cant wait to share results..
Totally implementing this magic! I see collaboration, problem solving, creativity with this!

I want to be more specific when self-assessing I've seen too many "thumbs up if you understand" while too many kiddos don't really get it and even worse, don't even know they don't get it. #mathconceptions
Skipping the concrete stage of learning is not an option! It is necessary! Multiplying &dividing with base ten blocks #r4Math #PisdMathChat
Oh, yeah! Math makes me smile, sing, and dance, too. ❤️ #MathCPR

I 💙 these contexts @williamsgtms #MathCPR
Tackling real-world practical problems! How many muffins can I make with a list of ingredients and a muffin pan?🤔 How many cups of pig food should I leave the pet sitter while I'm on vacation for a week? 🐷🐖 How much am I spending on my dogs each time I give them a treat?🐕🐶
Over the years I've urged Ts to use math games as teaching tools, for initial instruction, with small groups of Ss. This allows Ts to pose questions to develop math communication & reasoning...this approach can promote discovery, offer support, & develop vocabulary. #MathCPR
Is anyone using Legos in their math classroom to teach topics other than fractions? #edchat #msmathchat
Student-led discourse is essential to growth in any mathematics classroom #vamathchat
A2: Advancing questions leads to deeper thinking, which can lead to student curiosity in the classroom #VAMathChat
A1: Purposeful Qs ensures alignment to lesson target, allows T&S to monitor comprehension of this goal and pose addt’l Qs to clarify and/or deepen understanding of target 🎯 #VAMathChat
A3 Ask probing questions that require students to explain, elaborate or clarify their thinking. Give students adequate time to respond. Ask students to make the mathematics visible. Encourage reflection and justification #VAMathChat
