#RISheriffs had a spooktacular time handing out treats at the Public Safety Truck or Treat event on Saturday in the Town of Exeter. All the trick or treaters had a fun time selecting candy from the back of our vehicle!

This Saturday, the #RISheriffs are joining public safety agencies from across the state for a “SPOOKTACULAR” Trunk or Treat event in Exeter, RI. Bring your families and join us for some FUN on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 4PM – 6PM at the Metcalf Elementary School.

On Sunday, the #RISheriffs transport vehicle participated in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run first-ever HEROES PULL to help raise vital funds & awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics RI. Thanks to Lt. DeLima & Deputy Kingston for volunteering at this event!

#RISheriffs are pleased to welcome 2 new Deputies from our lateral transfer hiring initiative. Dep. Jason Farias retired from Warwick PD after 20 years of service & Dep. Ehren Mallams from the Lane County Sheriff's Office in Eugene, OR where he was a Deputy Sheriff for 7.5 years.

The #RISheriffs had the honor of providing security and safety over the past two weekends for the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals. The Division worked alongside their Federal, State and Local law enforcement partners to ensure a safe environment for all who attended.

#RISheriffs are out & about actively recruiting for our 2026 Academy. Deputies spoke with numerous potential candidates about the roles & responsibilities of a DEPUTY SHERIFF. We have several open positions. Apply at sheriffs.ri.gov DEADLINE to apply is 7/27/25

#RISheriffs were honored to promote Jason Colbert to Lieutenant today. Lt. Colbert is a 22-year member of the Division. He is currently the Department armorer & the Division’s range & taser instructor. We wish him much success in his new role as Division Lieutenant. ⭐️

14 outstanding new recruits graduated from #RISheriffs training academy on 4/17/25 & were sworn-in today by Chief Martellini. The Division also made history by hiring 6 lateral transfers on 2/24/25, the first time we have conducted simultaneous training academies for new hires.

#RISheriffs had a great day yesterday exhibiting at the Law Day Career event at CCRI/Warwick. Deputies Sharum & Rainey spoke with students about the exciting opportunities within our agency. Be on the LOOKOUT for our 2026 Academy OPEN ENROLLMENT process HAPPENING IN APRIL! 👮⭐️

#RISheriffs participated in the Torch Run Plunge for @specialolympicsri. Our team was proud to take the arctic PLUNGE to support these amazing athletes! They ranked 7 of 27 teams in their fundraisings & donated $2,703 for a wonderful cause! 👮🏊
