dithering in the last bit from sensor noise is more than enough entropy for it be to completely random (but its not as cool)


to make sure we’re talking about the same thing- we absolutely randomize the states the robot is initialized in, initial joint angles, etc. the things we do *not* apply a huge amount of DR to are things we should be doing sysid for like joint friction and armature.


It's not completely random there is a guided randomness like a confined chaos with a direction but otherwise nothing is placed anywhere with any purpose or meaning yet things are starting to appear to be orderly rather than chaotic. Like an employee standing behind a counter

Great question. I wouldn’t call it “all random” or “fully directed”. It’s random variation inside very strong constraints: physics, energy, survival, feedback over time. Those constraints act like a silent “director” that keeps what works and erases the rest.

To an extend that can be hella true , but it needs to be meaningful movement and not for without a reason I'd like to believe !! Though I think there is more than one way to acheive that hence why its "random"
