A5: The position statement and companion commentaries have been such helpful documents with resources attached at the end. I think more access to resources, esp ones @todosmath supports and finds helpful and then having a convo on how to use those resources. #TODOSSummerRead

It is so much better to jump off from what students know- that’s what they have to use for problem-solving. It just makes sense- let them use what they know as they learn additional skills & concepts. #TODOSSummerRead

I love it! So it’ll be an oral history? We did math autobiographies (and literacy, and science) as PSTs but it was written. I love the idea of expanding it beyond just written! #TODOSSummerRead

Yes!!! I love it! "Give them a chance to show what they know!!" If we did this a fraction more, it would make such a difference for students and show we care about what they know more than what they don't!! (Which I feel like is often the emphasis of assessment) #TODOSSummerRead

A3: I’m wondering if we can have kids “interview” their parents about math (and maybe even vice versa). What do they think math is? How did they experience math growing up? Now? How do they do math at home together? #TODOSSummerRead

A4: I am being as flexible as possible, using a variety of mediums (Google Slides, Padlet, etc) so there are many ways to participate, checking in with students to ensure they feel as though they are accessing the class and content in the best way possible. #TODOSSummerRead

A3: I mostly work with teachers- we are having conversations about humanizing mathematics & ways for their students and families to see themselves in that math. It belongs to them. That should not be controversial... and yet... #TODOSSummerRead

A3: I am terrible with my PSTs on how to build relationships with parents in general, BIPOC in particular. We will be reading the @todosmath Parent companion piece & discussing ways to prioritize and have more action around creating those crucial relationships. #TODOSSummerRead

A small group made their own task looking at a photo of migrant farm workers (those in the group were in a community of mostly migrant workers), mathematized it, and used it as a springboard for a conversation about minimum wage vs. migrant workers’ wages. #TODOSSummerRead
