I've been experimenting with adding simple backjumping to DeBroglie, my #wavefunctioncollapse library. Backjumping reverts multiple steps at once, which means the solver is less frequently stuck in tricky or unsolvable states. It should enable larger, harder generations to run.

I've never actually explained about DeBroglie/Tessera's path constraint, despite it being the most useful feature I've written. Basically, it's an enhancement for #wavefunctioncollapse procedural generation that can for the generation to be globally connected.🧵

Whoo, making more interesting river shapes with #wavefunctioncollapse. I managed to cut the time down from around 60~90s to 15~20s but I reckon there might be more gains to be made somewhere 🤔


I did the nerd thing and implemented #WaveFunctionCollapse. 3x3 cells which I drew myself, relationships are interpreted based on matching edges. It was a fun project and I wrote the WFC module generically so it can be used for whatever.


I've been experimenting with hexagonal #wavefunctioncollapse as an extension to Tessera. Despite support in my open source library DeBroglie, it's quite a bit of effort to get it to work. The resulting mazes look quite cool though, and I bet it'll be great for terrain.

It took me time to understand how #wavefunctioncollapse works. I fixed the last issue in the previous related post, which creates the gap between cells. All I need is an understanding of the design language of the tile rule.
