#VisualStudio 2022 v17.4 is asking me to authenticate. It'd be nice if my default browser was used for this flow (as per RFC 8252, so my pwd manager etc would work). If that's not possible, maybe #WebView2 should be used instead (vs the legacy IE11 WebBrowser ActiveX Control).

More #WebView2 fun from my logs. See a few of these a week. 😢 Relates to the required location of WebView environment storage on disk I suspect. While users can choose folders for their MM settings, this looks like something more explicit (ie. policy vs. folder permissions).

I've been talking about the rendering issues I've been having with the #WebView2 in @MarkdownMonster. There's massive amount of flicker going on around showing and hiding the WebView2 Here's what this looks like without any mitigations (defaultbackground and visibility). Ugh.

Whoa this is nice - it looks like the @Edge and #WebView2 teams have been working on getting memory usage of the hosted controls down significantly. When I started looking at this (and just with Previewer) this was running closer to 400megs!

Seems totally legit that I *have to* resort to code like this on Tab changes to not have the #WebView2 control flash bright white... Without the fake DoEvents there, the flash is extremely noticable especially in dark mode in @MarkdownMonstr. No flash now, but...

Another day another #WebView2 Hack: Fighting hidden startup where WebView2 doesn't initialize until WV becomes visible. Results in timing issues on initial load especially when using virtual domains mapped to local files. Briefly activating the host container works.

Surprisingly, there's a huge difference! ~270MB now vs ~580MB I saw back then with the #webview2 preview. Well done @MSEdgeDev team! This is a .NET 5 WPF project using the current WebView2 Runtime v90.0.818.66 and Microsoft.Web.WebView2 v1.0.818.41:
