Meet Owen Wilson Snipe! Owen had a close encounter with a window but was found by one of our dedicated volunteers. Right now, Owen is resting comfortably in our ICU. We're hoping for a speedy recovery so Owen can return to the wild. #AnimalRescue #OwenWilsonSnipe #WindowCollision
Thanks to @ladybugspicnic for quick thinking (& cutting her morning run short) to save this Downy Woodpecker from traffic at Rideau/Sussex after #windowcollision. Great reminder that best way to help bird in distress is to make sure it's safe & contained, & only then call us.
Last week, a Varied Thrush came to the Alaska Raptor Center after a window collision. Window strikes are common, but preventable. Adding decals or UV window reflectors helps birds see glass and stay safe. Small changes can save lives. #YouCanHelp #Thrush #WindowCollision
I wish everyone a wonderful year ahead! My #Resolution2020: Encourage more people to make their homes, schools & workplaces safer for birds like this female Northern Cardinal, my first #windowcollision patient of 2020. safewings.ca/homes
It was this kind of day ... our volunteers rescued about 50 live migratory birds and collected another 50 or so dead ones, almost all of them warblers and all of them victims of collisions with glass. #windowcollision You can help us prevent collisions safewings.ca
We are so self centered that I keep seeing people tweeting about how birds commit suicide against their windows... like really? 🙄 #windowstrike #windowcollision

Today we dispatched a volunteer to @OCTranspo Blair Station to pick up 2 apparent #WindowCollision birds. Also a fish, which led to intense speculation as we waited impatiently for photos from Melissa (who once found a trapped hawk that was in fact a groundhog true story). 1/4

Hey @NatGalleryCan, I’m a member and would very much like to see some action to reduce #windowcollision at the gallery.
Northern Waterthrush killed by #windowcollision at @NatGalleryCan today. Please let director @marc_mayer and Heritage Minister @melaniejoly know you care about the many hundreds of birds dying there every year, and demand meaningful action. #ottbird #ottnews
Swamp sparrow (lifer) at dusk nr CP Butterfly Gardens. And, sad news re concussed northern flicker. He died soon after I dropped him off @wildbirdfund, starving & in bad shape - another of so many #windowcollision bird victims at Circa CP at 110 St. 😔 #birdcpp @nypost @nytimes

Please note that we continue to be available to help injured birds like this Purple Finch, rescued by a homeowner following a #windowcollision yesterday. She's feeling better after oxygen therapy & meds, but needs more time to recover from her concussion & other injuries.
This gorgeous Blackburnian Warbler might have been a ray of sunshine in this dreary day. Instead, it ended up like too many other songbirds, killed by a #windowcollision. This is one of 18 victims found by just one volunteer in downtown #Ottawa this morning.
As our group has gotten bigger, we are now expanding into #sciencecommunication, undergraduate research opportunities, a small visual arts project, and growing our #windowcollision database in the hopes it will eventually find a home with a collaborator (are you interested?).

This peregrine falcon was lying face down when he arrived earlier today, but he's feeling quite a bit better after fluids and oxygen. His injuries indicate a window collision, so we're providing anti-inflammatory meds and wound care for a wing injury. 📷: Rachel Frank

Your point stands –– it's refreshing to know that we can count on #BigOil to spend at least as much on helping us solve the #WindowCollision and #CatPredation problem as they do telling us that "renewables kill birds!"

160 Elgin has lots of glass, yet our volunteers have never found a #windowcollision here. Why? Because densely patterned #birdsafe glass works! We'd love to see more of it in #Ottawa and #Gatineau.
