That was a pleasure to give a talk at #BGDevCon. Thanks Bez and Alan for organising this event. So exciting about future of developing games with considering art side as important as mechanic.

Great talk by @alina_potemska My takeaway was basically that we don't need to just keep doing the same sort of illustration/graphics in games. Let's push ourselves to explore the diversity and sheer excellence that you can see in the wider art world.

Now we're onto the short talks section of the programme at #BGDevCon - first up is Charlie Paull about accessibility in free form games.

It has to be to 'create something new'. That doesn't have to be a product. I did do a KS once for a convention (#BGDevCon) However, by deciding up-front that it'll be a 54-card game, I could easily determine a cost and give people an actual game within a month or two of KS end.


#BGDevCon is of course limited by the knowledge base of those who attend. Do you know any UK designers doing this sort of digital testing? I can definitely see the advantages!


#GameADay2020 I am not good at deciding on short hashtags. Notably, @NorthSouthGames christened #BGDevCon, which had its 4th year in 2019. Anyway, after accidentally doing this for 3 days (3 is a pattern...) is to play a new (to me) game every day of the year.


Just finished editing my #BGWB show with @GamingRulesVids Why start a boardgame convention? We mention Gridcon, #BGDevCon, @UKGamesExpo, @Dragonmeet, @TabletopMag Gaming Live. We also touch upon: overworking, mental health, butter, craft fairs, bartending, video-making.


‘Speed concepting’ was originally an idea by @wisegoldfish for #bgdevcon. Folk spent 15-20 minutes together working out the initial designs. Someone afterwards wondered what a day centred around this activity would be like. It seemed worth doing! We had a solid crowd of 10!
