Exciting news! Our paper: "A Nurse is Blue and Elephant is Rugby: Cross Domain Alignment in Large Language Models Reveal Human-like Patterns" was accepted to #CogSci2024! 🎉 We explore how LLMs map concepts across domains, and reason about those mappings. 🧠✨
If you are at #CogSci2024, come by our poster "Distilling Symbolic Priors for Concept Learning into Neural Networks"! We distill a Bayesian model of concept learning into neural nets, resulting in neural nets that learn concepts like a Bayesian model. P3-N-680 at 1:00 today!
Feeling super inspired to hear so many interesting talks and posters at my intellectual home #CogSci2024. Thank you @cogsci_soc for such wonderful programs!
Excited to share new work at #cogsci2024! How do people perform whodunnit reasoning, using evidence from multiple senses to infer what happened? We compare people to large language/multimodal models and propose a Bayesian model of event reconstruction via simulated actions 🧵1/8
And that's a wrap for #CogSci2024 Thank you to all the brilliant minds, speakers, and attendees who made this event unforgettable. We can't wait to see you all next year in San Francisco 🌉 🇺🇸 for #CogSci2025 👋 😉 #SeeYouNextYear
Honestly, disheartening to see how much of @cogsci_soc has fallen for AI hype, confusing tech for theories. I've been trying to ring alarm over the last years, via social media, talks, papers, blogging, reviewing etc. And then to see this ... #cogsci2024

24-27 July 2024 I joined #CogSci2024 at Rotterdam in the Netherlands This was the first time CogSci for me to join in person! Thanks for great opportunity to join and to talk to people from various research fields and countries!
#cogsci2024 was the biggest cognitive science conference ever (by # submissions and # attendees alike), and a great success. Hats off to @lksamueltweet Stefan Frank @mtoneva1 @ally_mackey & @EliotHazeltine for a phenomenal job as conference organizers/program chairs – thank you!!
13 years ago, I presented my first paper ever at #CogSci. This year I had the honor of serving as a Program Chair. Cognitive science is changing thanks to LLMs. Where will CogSci be in 13 more years? Maybe an undergrad in the audience last week will run it. Or maybe ChairGPT.
Our study aims to separate any innate mechanical aspects of the exploration that might interfere with the learning process, and it does so in a principled way. #CCN2024 #CogSci2024
last week, i had the opportunity to give my first in-person talk and attend my first-ever #cogsci2024! had the absolute best time :-) special thanks to my collaborators on this project @c_welk @_helenschmidt_ @lukejchang @hawkrobe & my stage mom @emma__templeton for this photo!
Had a great time presenting at #Analogy2024 and #CogSci2024 about the algorithms underlying hierarchical patterning! Thanks to @ClaireS012345, @margipavlova, and @IchienNick for organizing!
Last Saturday, I had the amazing opportunity to present my thesis work at the #CogSci2024! It was an honor to share the stage with 6 other fantastic Glushko Dissertation Prize winners: @Tianwei_Gong @DaeHoulihan @shaileeejain @RTomMcCoy @HunterSchone & Matthias Grabenhorst.
