Visited two other of my discoveries of #neolithic enclosures, one being a typical rondel, the other more eggoid/rondeloid :) Each year is a surprise lottery with #cropmarks
Interessant: De huidige droogte in Europa legt oude verdedigingswerken, loopgraven, kastelen en ringwallen bloot. #cropmarks
The new Microsoft Flight Simulator uses Bing satellite data for ground textures. This means that you can virtually fly over real places that have visible crop marks and attempt to spot them from your aircraft :) #msfs2020 #cropmarks
Great results today using the @LoCATE_Survey FM36 gradiometer to investigate #cropmarks. Romano-British features plus a fantastic oval barrow. #Archaeology #geophysics
This circular crop mark feature probably "is what I like to call" a levelled barrow mound. #cropmarks
More #cropmarks, this time from Lower Silesia where another @MKiDN_GOV_PL project lead by @uniwroc allowed us to find some nice #neolithic rondels/circular enclosures and at least two possible (previously thought not to exist in Poland) henge monuments!
WWII trenches visible in the bank of the river IJssel because of the persistent drought in the Netherlands. #cropmarks #drought #history #archaeology #WWII (by @OmroepGLD & @DeGelderlander) gelderlander.nl/arnhem-e-o/dro…
My first attempt to photogrammetry based on thermal images. Looks very interesting. #Archaeology #cropmarks #drones
Documented another type of monument, unknown until recent aerial surveys. Some call it a Motte while others claim it's a knightly or even "provost" village. Anyway there's tons of them. The last example is from previous years. Shows how they look in nice conditions for #cropmarks
Tying in to the previous posts about #medieval abandoned towns, see the reconstructed schematic town plans of royal Nieszawa and private Dzwonowo. Note the difference in size between a private and royal charter. Bonus aerial image with #cropmarks of Dzwonowo.
Crop marks in fields reveal ancient river network - snapped from an Easyjet airbus en route to Bordeaux for #bdx21 via Luton, in case you were wondering. #cropmarks
Since everyone is checking out Polish LiDAR tiles I would like to recommend the Malżyce prehistoric enclosure and Stradów awesome hillfort (check out the orthoimages as well). Have Fun: bit.ly/3i2Negq #geophys #lidar #cropmarks

Incredible to read that - following its aerial discovery & evaluation during a solar farm development - the importance of the buried site was recognised & it was both scheduled & taken out of the plough. Wow. More of this please! 👏👏 #AerialArchaeology #Cropmarks
A newly discovered Roman small town south of Great Staughton, Cambridgeshire, has been given heritage protection as a scheduled monument. 👏 Archaeological remains show the Roman town’s streets and buildings and how it developed over time. ➡️ bit.ly/Cambridgeshire…
Tell me you’re a graphic designer without telling me you’re a graphic designer 👩💻 Another class session with Lewis Hobson as part of Spennymoor Mural Festival 🌈 #ganonlass #cmyk #cropmarks
A great evening talking about #cropmarks & aerial discoveries last night in Penparcau, bringing the winter lecture series for the #Pendinas Project to an end. Diolch/thanks to so many local people for coming
Thank you to everyone who came to listen to Dr Toby Driver’s lecture last night on “The Hidden Archaeology of Ceredigion” 🧐 What a brilliant way to finish our Winter Lecture Series ❄️ Keep an eye out for more Pendinas Project events! 🌟 @RC_Survey @Toby_Driver1 @DyfedArch

Another view of the Roman Roads junction at #Puckeridge, from 1962. #ErmineStreet comes in from mid-right, overlaid by a field boundary. #Cropmarks #RomanRoadsFriday #Hertfordshire
Latest google earth fly over (15/6/23) of @HawfordFarm indicates a bit more #archaeology under our Spring barley than I was aware of! Adds to existing romano-British features we already know about. #fields #cropmarks #farming
1/2 #HillfortsWednesday Summer flying has discovered some new #cropmarks across Wales 🛩️ This newly-discovered Iron Age farm in #Pembrokeshire is unlike anything we've seen before! We rebalance the colour image (right) to highlight the archaeology (left).
Early start for @RC_Survey aerial reconnaissance this morning, to see what #cropmarks have survived the recent downpours #flying #Archaeology
Still dry along western coasts of #Ceredigion & #Pembrokeshire today for @RC_Survey reconnaissance & several new #cropmarks emerging despite recent rain showers 📷 Mwnt to Cardigan

#FindsFriday Reflecting on a good 3 days of archaeological aerial survey for @RC_Survey & @RCAHMWales before the weather breaks. Lots of #cropmarks in dry pasture like this concentric #IronAge farmstead near Whitland, #Carmarthenshire & #Roman road into #Pembrokeshire 🤩
High above the parchmarks and developing archaeological #cropmarks of south Wales & north Wales today and tomorrow for @rc_survey
1/2 When looking for archaeological #cropmarks in summer, the @RC_Survey team rely on weekly Soil Moisture Deficit (SMD) figures - indicators of drought - from the @metoffice to plan flying Higher drought readings show where buried archaeology is likely to appear ⤵️
The dandelions have stopped flowering but from #Shiny7th you can still see the shape of the camps in the #cropmarks
On #RoyalWarwicks badge this afternoon, doing a bit of weeding. Dandelions still doing their #cropmarks thing on the #WWI camps. Rewarded with a fairy ring and splendid views!
Not really sure - it might be soil chemistry due to chalk being used for the tracks. They are very striking! #cropmarks
Dandelions clearly showing layout of #FWW camp over 100yrs after it was removed. Thousands of soldiers trained here before heading to Western Front including #RoyalWarwicks & #Shiny7th. More here suttonbadges.org.uk/the-camps/

As part of the previously mentioned project I had a chance to hover a spectacular Neolithic site in Kaczkowo where easily over a hundred of trapezoidal long houses were quite clearly visible as #cropmarks

Here's a couple of sketches to help illustrate what the #cropmarks might be indicating. I make no suggestion of the construction sequence and potential phases of the monument, though it does look like the post-holes either pre-date or post-date the sockets/causewayed ditches
#HillfortsWednesday Nice #cropmarks on a slope of a #hillfort....do you spot them :) Image from @bing #satellite image. #archaeology
