#DevelopingDesignSystems I have a similar question about how to test a design system but not in terms or visual assests but what is the best way to test with people who actually use it and find aspects to improve? Any method or exercise that you made around this?

We're adding stacked slots & parts throughout our components to provide as many escape hatches as possible. Debating on if every slot/parts is a part of the API that we have to support or only the slots we document. #developingDesignSystems
How do you define design system scale? Currently I want to make a library for myself and there's so many elements I want to put into the library but it will be too much #DevelopingDesignSystems
Any thoughts on bare htmlelement vs lit vs stencil or any of the other libs. #developingDesignSystems
#developingDesignSystems how are you shipping customizability along with your design system?
How do you track what components/tooling you create are being used? #developingDesignSystems
#developingDesignSystems do any of you have a comment on engaging your QA team in the adoption process? @darianrosebrook

#developingDesignSystems I have to catch a flight, wish I could stay, but what an excellent group of hosts!
Questions about a11y for #developingDesignSystems: When creating web components with a button and dropdown, where should we put "aria-expanded" and "aria-controls"? the custom element itself? the button in shadow DOM?
When #developingDesignSystems for browser based apps, do you start with a design tool or do you use the browser directly to see how things will actually work?
#developingdesignsystems Would love to hear about: Best practices for refactoring and deprecating components. Methods for outreach within the org (both to designers and potentially non-design stakeholders).

Had some very satisfying progress bringing this to life in Spectrum Web Components this week! 🚧 Prod/dev build tooling looking fast. 🚀 Dev notices taking shape to cover #a11y/component API expectations, and some deprecation notices. 📝 Exciting! 🤩 #developingDesignSystems

Anyone now why Android devices (at least in the emulator) do not match `@media (pointer: coarse)`? I don't have an Android device right now, so if that's just the emulator, I'd also take documentation to that fact. #css #responsiveDesign #developingDesignSystems
What _isn't_ a "dropdown", that is currently called one? Honest question. I'd always developed it as an abstraction for an element that opened a selection interface...but at what point does that interface _really_ stop being a "dropdown"? #developingDesignSystems
Great stuff in here! Gotta double check if we missed anything in opensource.adobe.com/spectrum-web-c… Good expansions included! A great intro into building UIs that are usable by ALL/ANY of your visitors 👏👏👏 #developingDesignSystems is easier when we understand we're in this together 🚀

#developingDesignSystems is gonna love this. Can we skip right to when this version ships in browsers!?!? 🤯
I'd say "Grouping styles with higher-order variables" & "Interactions in CSS" are the killer app we didn't even know we needed for Container Queries! Especially in #webComponents. This might even remove the need for ::--state() or whatever the selector has become over iterations.
A great way to support your planning for #developingDesignSystems is to checkout out w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/p… doesn't give you all the answers but is a great foundation!

#developingdesignsystems @WestbrookJ The design systems (design) team also does not necessarily communicate over the accessibility requirements. For our team, this has always been a collaborative effort with our engineers. I would consider it a part of our design process.
