Another day where you hear engineers split up a bounded context into separate physical microservices sprinkled w/ rpc #DistributedMonolith
The SCARIEST of possible future architectures. Eternal damnation awaits. 😱#distributedmonolith #halloween

Over 3 years later, this talk is still spot on if you're looking to modernize services platforms. Avoid the #DistributedMonolith trap when moving to #Microservices youtube.com/watch?v=-czp0Y…
@tareq_abedrabbo Who invented the term #distributedmonolith?
- (hype) "Lets do microservices" - Half a year later: "Shit, what are we doing?" #distributedmonolith
Beware the #distributedMonolith youtube.com/watch?v=XjMTDb…
Avoid #distributedmonolith at all costs. So many organisation fail to follow best practices, battle tested, measured and well documented. Why is that?
Not quite there but is comming :) #monoliths can be good if architectured properly. Worst of the worst is a #distributedmonolith painted as #microservices
OH: you managed to have all the costs of microservices and get none of the benefits
The real counter against microservices is that they don't help teaching peole on how to judge architectural/domain boundaries. That knowledge gap will create deeply coupled services that all need to be touched on every change. A distributed monolith. #distributedmonolith
Exactly my point. Developers who haven't mastered modular software and don't know how to choose a domain boundary are writing microservices as a crutch to enforce organisational boundaries. The result is just a tightly coupled distributed monolith. #distributedmonolith
Tfw you learn that to solve monolith problems, a decision has been taken to build a #distributedmonolith using orchestration and a different language as it’s “faster” to do, with the project inception happening months into build. Feedback, is of course, not welcome. #notmyagile

seeing #monolith as neutral / deployment detail, makes #distributedmonolith = #microservices
Detector for a #distributedmonolith: are you able to create a "docker-compose.yml" that works on your laptop and actually allows you to develop locally?

Lets talk #microservice? Here's how you can architect your #microservices to prevent ending up with a #DistributedMonolith! Tell me the wrong reason why it wouldn't work 😜! blog.spaceuptech.com/posts/building…
