#Escooters will be enticing: e.g. in #Toronto urban core, and along waterfront. But it'll be messy in absence of #minimumgrid of protected #bikelanes b/c #sidewalks will be the only safe place to ride. 😑 EASILY FIXABLE but in most #Ontario cities the conflict's baked right in.
Good or bad idea? thestar.com/news/gta/2019/…
My map of Business Concentration vs Bike Lanes in @CityOfVictoria. Keep improving the #minimumgrid #bikenetwork @lisahelps! More people can move along these routes than any motor route in the CBD. #densitydonewell #activetransportation #urbanplanning #bikelanes #gis #mapping
So many people considering riding a bike right now. What an opportunity for making safer and better choices for the futures if we create a #minimumgrid for cyclists in #ldnont
Hi @brisbanecityqld, you are getting left in the dust #minimumgrid
The #bikelanes are coming. Looking good @cityofmelbourne theage.com.au/politics/victo… #cycling #safer
$1.1M "better spent" on something other than a downtown #completestreet? NOT helpful @cyclingpei. Who not push for UN-recommended 20% of transpo budget toward safe active mobility? Whn not demand a #minimumGRID? #visionzero #cycling #Charlottetown
Doored 100m from work on Albert St. Brisbane safe cycling options would be nice. #minimumgrid @Schrinner
I know there are tensions in the city today but @TransLinkSEQ can you please remind your bus drivers that it’s not okay to pin a bike between two buses, brushing my elbow then long beep me as I remove myself from danger? Thanks. T We need a #minimumgrid so bad @brisbanecityqld

Coffee and conversations this morning about last mile cycle connections in Brisbane City with Chris and Melissa @modacitylife, Andrew from @bicycleqld and hosts @pedbiketrans. Lots of talk about the much needed CBD Protected Bike Grid. #minimumgrid
Bicycling is efficient. Bicycling is healthy. Bicycling is good for the economy. Bicycling is conservative. Bicycling is good for Calgary. Building a #minimumgrid city wide would position Calgary as a future-now city. #yyccc #yycbike
It is unfortunate that not everyone sees the benefits of the CBD CityLink Cycleway Project. #minimumgrid
Agree! @BikeShareTO is widening the gateway to cycling. Bicycling doesn't need to be about fitness or recreation. It's just a super efficient way to get from A to B. Would love to see @JohnTory accelerate the implementation of safe infrastructure to ride them in! #minimumgrid
@BikeShareTO bikes are pretty obviously built for transport, not sport, and they're a growing part of the landscape. No doubt that's having an impact...on people who ride them and on everyone sharing the streets with them. #BikeTO
We are set up and trading at the Reimagine Brisbane Policy Conference and Ideas Fiesta. We are promoting the CBD Protected Bike Grid and other bike friendly ideas for Brisbane. #MinimumGrid
Someday #topoli will recognize how cost-effective, congestion-busting, and positive to building a livable city a #Minimumgrid of #biketo lanes would be. In the meantime, let's not forget these lanes are far from fully built; these numbers can go far higher with real protection.
City staff recommend making the separated bike lanes on Richmond & Adelaide permanent. They had been part of a pilot project up ’til now. They also recommend moving the Adelaide lane to to the other side of the street. app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgen…
If only there was space for some bicycle infrastructure. #minimumgrid @space4cyclingbn @cbdbug @Schrinner @brisbanecityqld
Just a few pics from this year's #thebigpush for a #minimumgrid in the @brisbanecityqld Even with the police escort on a Sunday some parts were hugely intimidating.
Thanks for closing part of the best eastbound bike lane in downtown without providing a safe alternate @TO_Cycling @311Toronto @JohnTory! Real great #VisionZero and #minimumgrid stuff! #zerovision @car_in_bikelane
Interesting comparison in bike to work rate trends in US cities. Wonder what it would look like to throw London, Calgary, and other #MinimumGrid cities in? Also curious to see all trips, not just commute trips. nyc.gov/html/dot/downl… cc @CommuteSeattle @seabikeblog @benjiedlp
It's easy to forget about non drivers as our country has been designed around the car. As our urban and suburban population grows, we need to rethink accessibility. Transit users, cyclists, and pedestrians need safe space and infrastructure to support them! #minimumgrid #cycleto
Toronto's surburban neighbourhoods are primed for separated #cycling infrastructure - without removing traffic lanes, parking, or sidewalk space thestar.com/news/gta/2018/… @lizjsutherland @TCATonline

I like contraflows, esp for creating routes in a #minimumgrid; however, I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be easier just say "all single-lane one-ways are by default 2-way for biking"? so many of these streets are identical to a 2-way design except for signs
That looks like a nightmare for bicycle commuters, please work with the BCC to deliver safe cycling on the CBD streets #minimumgrid
@CycleToronto & @880Cities had a campaign called #minimumgrid that was basically this - build a network of protected lanes to serve all of Toronto. Still one of my favourite tshirts.
Yes this is Toronto. Yes this design can be replicated on our suburban streets - the majority of our road network! Yes doing so would begin to facilitate a transition from cars to bikes, providing more choice in places where choices are limited. #MinimumGrid
Located near the suburban campus of York University, Toronto’s first full Dutch-style protected intersection for cyclists opened in Summer 2022. Join @MattPinder1 for a ride through the intersection while he explains some of the critical design features. beyondtheautomobile.com/2022/09/18/vid…
Yes. The risk is that cycling gets even more dangerous before it becomes safe. Some things should not exist halfway - cycling infrastructure that dumps cyclists into traffic is dangerous. We need to complete the #minimumgrid asap.
I sure hope you’re right. But we should be building at many times the current pace.
All it takes is political will to install temporary mobility lane, with paint and/or traffic cones, until permanent solution is planned & ready to be installed. None, not a single Canadian city has done that nor willing to install #MinimumGrid in a short time frame. (TO-10yrs).
Dear @JohnTory World class cities like New York and London have massive amounts of cycling infrastructure, which is relatively cheap to build. How can Toronto call itself world class when we haven't even built half of the needed #MinimumGrid ?
The angled parking sections in downtown need to go and the private-public transit should be drastically improved, to be seen as a viable alternative option to driving. But also #MinimumGrid of bike lane network should exist, it's 2022.
If Toronto City Council decides #ActiveTO is a pandemic response that's no longer needed, why isn't there any discussion of the lack of everyday #BikeTO safe routes & the urgent need to build a #MinimumGrid of safe, fully protected cycle tracks so people can get around the city?
👏 Councillor Layton bringing the realness! Let's keep THESE lanes and add MORE LANES to get a #minimumgrid #BellsOnYonge
most of the speeches calling for the removal of bike lanes start today has started with the words "we're not against bike lanes, just THESE lanes". Would it surprise anyone that this comment has been made at every community consultation for bike lanes I have EVER attended?
Small but important additions! Cheers to City Staff for the report and to councillors for their support of safe infrastructure. We need a #minimumgrid so Torontonians can access their city! #BellsOnYonge

Positive changes coming to the protected bikelanes that run along Edward St. Works are scheduled to start on Monday. #minimumgrid
Councillor @RoweSantos, I enjoyed our chat on making Brampton bicycle friendly city, zoom from Russia. You are leader on active mobility. Great cycling is not a tech or $$ issue, it's political. You deserve “Wheels of Change, Community Champion” Award. keep up, goal: #MinimumGrid
Ottawa creates "cycling highways" on Sundays by closing major parkways to motorists. Imagine biking to work each weekday, safely, on smooth roads, without intersections, and across the city?!! #biketo #minimumgrid @MikeSchreiner @OntarioGreens @JimWatsonOttawa

Great to hear @ryansrumblings state to @brisbanecityqld chamber, that the contract for the Citylink Cycleway (aka #minimumgrid) has now been awarded with construction hoped to be completed before Christmas.
Just a few pics from this year's #thebigpush for a #minimumgrid in the @brisbanecityqld Even with the police escort on a Sunday some parts were hugely intimidating.

The Elizabeth St "CityLink Cycleway" safe protected bikelanes are looking good and just waiting for the green paint. 🚲👍 #minimumgrid
2/ Take the 2016 bike plan, a multi-year study produced by city staff. While there were notable gaps, the plan proposed a city-wide #MinimumGrid along major corridors, along with a significant increase in infrastructure funding.

Construction on the CityLink Cycleway (aka #minimumgrid) has started. It has been a long 5 years of continuous campaigning by everyone that forms @space4cyclingbn but it is going in.
State Government has agreed to fund half the cost of Brisbane’s #minimumgrid, a grid of protected bikeways in the CBD. Let’s get started on this congestion busting project that will enable anyone from ages 8 to 80 to safely ride a bicycle within the CBD of Brisbane.
"Julia Cawse was run over by a man who drove into the #bikeTO lane on Dundas St E. In that instant, the promising future Julia had was permanently derailed. She survived, but suffered catastrophic injuries." DEMAND a #minimumGRID of PROTECTED lanes NOW. thestar.com/amp/news/gta/2…
Thank you to @QldPolice for keeping the riders safe and to Maurice Blackburn @WeFightForFair for the “I’m Riding for Safe Streets” t shirts. Great visuals for the campaign. @StreetSmartsQLD #RoadSafetyF1rst #TheBigPush #minimumgrid
If you missed the FB postings by @StirlHinchliffe & @gracextwo yesterday the State Government is providing $5million towards the Citylink Cycleway (ie CBD #minimumgrid). Great that @MarkBaileyMP and @ryansrumblings are working together on this project.
Just listened to @bne_lordmayor budget speech. @brisbanecityqld will work with the State Government to install popup protected bikelanes in the CBD. #minimumgrid
Great to hear @ryansrumblings talking about a CBD #minimumgrid @ElliottChipper we would point out you don't need lycra to ride a bike. Here is the ever stylish @katherinefeeney on her bike.
Felt safer biking in a group along Danforth to inspiring @MOTHERLOADmovie at @HotDocsCinema yesterday...still nothing like reaching actual protected #BikeTO lanes on the bridge and parts of Bloor. How could a child feel safe biking along here? We need a #MinimumGrid.
