Today marks the anniversary of the #Peterloo Massacre and we remember the bravery of the working people of Greater Manchester. We care for broadsides, commonplace books and other items relating to Peterloo and collected by the Reverend W.R. Hay 👉shorturl.re/7el8m
A fantastic conclusion to our art exhibition! Year 6 created incredible installations, rallying for change like Henry Hunt. Their voices will echo across our Playful City. @SalfordLCEP @SalfordCouncil @Lynsey_Merrick @RCSalfordEd @RFKHumanRights #Peterloo

Thanks to the organisers of today's #Peterloo commemoration for the chance to reflect on the events of 1819 + their echoes today not least the need to extend politics into economic democracy thru public ownership and socialist planning and the need for a new workers' party #TUSC
Make no mistake about it , things have not fundamentally changed it is just the Establishment now have more subtle ways of keeping the rabble in check #Peterloo
A video I edited... The Masque of Anarchy: Written on Occasion of the #Peterloo Massacre at Manchester “Rise like Lions after slumber in unvanquishable number-Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you Ye are many they are few.” ― Percy Bysshe Shelley
16th August is the 205th anniversary of The Peterloo Massacre. Middleton Library's display details those casualties who were from the Middleton area. We also have a replica banner on display. #Peterloo
Thanks to all those who joined us this evening to commemorate the 204th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre. #Peterloo #ManchesterHistory #Democracy
Always so moving to attend the ‘reading of the names’ of those who died at Peterloo; honoured this year to take part. Never forget #Peterloo
Today is the 204th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre. The Rochdale Pioneers wanted fair prices and social reform for the working classes. A number were Chartists. In 1919, Co-op News published two articles that marked the anniversary. #CoopArchives #Peterloo #Chartism
#OTD in 1819, 60,000 people gathered in Manchester’s St Peter’s Field to call for universal male suffrage and parliamentary reform. They were charged by the yeomanry. At least 14 people died and over 650 were injured. Newspapers dubbed the event the #Peterloo Massacre. 🧵 1/6
#Peterloo OTD in 1819: The Peterloo Massacre. A peaceful crowd had gathered to hear speakers on electoral reform, when the authorities ordered the meeting to be broken up by the Manchester and Salford Yeomanry and the Fifteenth Hussars, resulting in 18 deaths and 650 injuries.

D. #OTD 1846 Sir Charles Wolseley, 7th Baronet. He has present at fall of Bastille & helped revolutionaries. An ardent reformer, elected to take grievances of Birmingham folk to government, he helped victims & accused after #Peterloo & was himself imprisoned.
In Geography, Year 6 explored the Peterloo Massacre through maps and movement — discovering how far people travelled across Greater Manchester to demand change. A powerful lesson in distance, determination, and democracy. 🚶♂️📏 #Y6Geography #Peterloo #LocationalKnowledge
Year 6 stepped into history using Mantle of the Expert to explore the Peterloo Massacre. Through powerful images and their senses, they imagined the sights, sounds and emotions of the crowd. History came alive today. 👀👂🗣️ #Y6History #MantleOfTheExpert #Peterloo @imagineinquiry
I didn't leave the Labour Party, the Labour Party left me. Good luck if you really believe that you can influence change but for me they have gone too far. Even the LD's are more left wing and that is saying something. #Peterloo
Brutality by police is sadly to be expected. Protests scare politicians as threat to their power. Police are given license to assault people with impunity. I’m sorry to have to point this out. It should be obvious to anyone aware of history. #Peterloo en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peterloo_…
As 16th day of August once again draws to a close, let's remember "Peaceful Protest Is Part Of A Healthy Democracy" #Gaza #Peterloo @RealMancsy
Also very good to see the Peterloo tapestry, created by members of the public in the run-up to the bicentenary in 2019, on display in the bar of @53two! #Peterloo2025 #Peterloo
Afterwards at @53two we saw Reformers of Peterloo perform Peterloo in Rock, a musical show about 1819 and the fight for democracy (have we won yet?) Featuring the art of @PeterlooMemoria's Polyp as ever-shifting backdrop. One more performance tonight 8pm! #Peterloo2025 #Peterloo

Finished the Peterloo Massacre by @paulmagrs today. What a story it is, no aliens (other than, as @jfmouthonlegs says, Nyssa and the Doctor), just brilliant storytelling shining a light on an injustice we are still marking in Manchester 200 years later. @bigfinish #peterloo

16th in the #Manchester Scrapbook, Thomas Barritt, painting in the tense year of #Peterloo. 'Old buildings took down to make way for the Exchange and Exchange Street Manchester.' Nostalgia to the fore. Perhaps his memories were by then more important to him than what was to come.
Today marks 201 years since the #Peterloo Massacre on St Peter's Field in #Manchester. Find out how the areas that make up #Trafford were involved in our online exhibition 'Preparing for a Massacre: Peterloo and the Trafford Area'. exploringtraffordsheritage.omeka.net/exhibits/show/…
A day out with @jeremycorbyn as opposed to a day out with starmer .. I know which I prefer @RedRosa91940184 #Peterloo #Solidarity
