Multi-cueing strategies, such as advising beginning readers to "Look at the picture" and asking them "What word makes sense here" move students AWAY from accurately reading the word, not towards it. Mutli-cueing has no place in early reading instruction #ReadingRevolution2019

#ReadingRevolution #readingrevolution2019 I use the PAST from Kilpatrick's Equipped for Reading Success to assess phonemic awareness to an advanced level. Much better than tests that only go to deleting initial phonemes or similar.
