The time to initiate intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke is generally limited to within 4.5 hours after onset of symptoms. Some trials have suggested that the treatment window may be extended in patients with ischemic but not yet infarcted brain tissue on imaging.

Bittersweet day. I worked my last shift as a Neuro IR nurse. Ended the day with a right M2 thrombectomy, which achieved full re-profusion. We stopped the patient’s stroke and they regained function almost immediately. #stroke #strokenurse #brain #neuroelite
