Yesterday, we went to Little Cataraquai Creek Conservation Area to learn about plants + animals as a wrap up to our Life Systems #science strand. Today, we completed a #TWR sentence expansion activity about our field trip using a lesson from the #syntaxproject. @LimestoneDSB

After learning about the conjunctions because + but using a #SyntaxProject lesson, Ss completed sentences to simultaneously demonstrate their understanding of these conjunctions and of the plant + animal adaptations we’ve been learning about in #science. @LimestoneDSB

We are learning how to finish sentences when given a sentence stem starting with a subordinating conjunction. In addition to improving sentence-level writing, this #TWR activity helps Ss to build + demonstrate content-area knowledge. #SyntaxProject @Glenburnie_ldsb @LimestoneDSB

Today we used a #TWR #syntaxproject lesson to practice combining sentences using a conjunction + pronoun. In addition to teaching grammar, this sentence-combining activity allowed Ss to demonstrate their knowledge about #perimeter. #math @Glenburnie_ldsb @LimestoneDSB

Today’s #syntaxproject lesson aligned perfectly with the conversation at our learning meeting yesterday with @GutermuthPrin1 about writing. Building the foundation of writing by identifying sentences and fragments and using CUPS to self check!

During our Writing Block Students continued to learn about the use of conjunctions to extend their thinking and Writing. We used our Science content to understand how to use “but” as a u-turn in our writing. #syntaxproject ⁦@TheWritingRevol⁩ ⁦@WinstonPSLDSB⁩

We began using the #syntaxproject to learn more about writing sentences and the outcome has been fantastic. Our focus is on the noun and verb then we will start expanding our sentences. Love this in addition to adding in pictures based on our current EL unit!

Today we worked on completing sentences with the #conjunctions BECAUSE + BUT. Here you can see examples of the WE DO part of our #SyntaxProject lesson: one where the Ss choose the correct conjunction + another where they complete the sentence. #TWR @Glenburnie_ldsb @LimestoneDSB

Sentence syntax hack. Have students write sentences with whatever sentence structure you are working on, cut them up and have other students unscramble them. #syntaxproject #writingrevolution.
